Have owned and loved from new my estate. Have this weekend done a head gasket and cracked the head in a position that cant be welded. anybody out there know of an engine or head I can buy. Love to get it back on the road - otherwise its a breakers yard frownfrown Or do they know of any other way I can keep it alive.

It'll be repairable, there's always a way.

Get yourself onto the forums; t5d5, vpcuk, volvotuning. Volvotuning has a very active Facebook presence too.

Good luck, these cars are worth fixing.

Buy a dead C70 T5 and have the 2.3 block and head off it - all the ancillary parts are different but they can be swapped over - reckon you could get a dead one for a few hundred quid

There's an 850 T5 breaking on Gumtree as we speak.

Just buy a replacement head (rebuild it if you want too) and fit it using all the existing parts from your own car.

Certainly not fit for the breakers, even with the issues and in bits somebody will pay a small fortune - they seems to have hiked in price recently.

I stand to be corrected but yes I believe so - My 99 C70 is a 2.3 T5 - the differences are things like coil packs instead of a distributor, different ECU, Inlet Manifold etc but I'm pretty sure the block and head should be the same - They are notably cheaper than T5 850's because No one wants what is basically a V70 with 80% of the practicality removed - except me of course - I love my C70.

Go for the earliest possible - some REALLY early ones will actually be running the 240bhp 850 T5-R motor but I've literally only ever seen a couple of these - The other car to look for is an early classic shape V70/S70 T5 - these run the exact same engine as the T5-R I believe - My S-plate V70 T5 was an 850 style engine with 240bhp - later models had the engine like my C70 with different ancillary parts

My 1995/96 T5r lives again
New head replaced and all good - well almost.
The engine had been remapped a few years ago but this company no longer exists and I seem to have a smooth power feed ( lack of) it hiccups around 40-50 on acceleration then carries on. Garage has checked basics but as remapped they do'nt have the numbers so I need to get it checked on a rolling road. Anybody recommend someone in hampshire/surrey/berkshire area (I am in camberley)
Any advice welcomed
Mike
