I was going to get some steel ford focus wheels (as fitted to current model) for some winter tyres, but now I’m having doubts that they are identical to the Volvo.

Would I be right in saying the stud pattern for a V50 was 5 x 108 & the bore hole size was 63.4mm like the focus?

What does the V50 use to secure the wheels bolts or nuts?

Any help would be appreciated?

Don't forget the offset. If you change that significantly it will affect handling, you can change it by a few mm but need to be careful.

Also the wheels are spigot fixing, so the spigot hole ( the hole in hthe centre of the wheel) fits snugly over the spigot and the nuts provide a clamping force through the studs. Generic after market wheels get round this by having a plastic or light metal spigot ring to ensure a good fit for your model.

What do you mean what does it use to hold the wheel bolts or nuts? I thought you had one?

You have to use the nuts with the right angle on the cone that matches the wheels plus right thread and so on.

Re focus wheels fitting it's definitely worth a shot.

I tend to agree the PCD is 5 x 108. You can check by measuring the distance between the centre of adjacent holes and multiply by 1.7102.
Bore hole is 63.4 iirc.
Offset 38 to 45. The Focus might have a higher offset so one to watch there.
Fittings are N12 x 1.5 dredged up from back of memory when I bought mine.

Thanks for the advice.

I haven't got my V50 yet it's on order & due in June.

I was told the focus Mk2 uses nuts to secure the wheels. I've had a focus Mk1 in the past & I was sure they used bolts?

Hence I wanting to know if the V50's used nuts or bolts to secure the wheels, as I assumed the focus & the S40/V50 use same mechanical parts?

Focus and s40/v50 do share many parts, but not wheel hubs, they use studs and bolts btw!
