Auxiliary Belt has snapped and been sucked into the cam belt.

Just putting a new cam belt kit on to see if engine is ok .

Cant see that it possibly can be , but you have to have a bit of luck one day or another.

She was just pulling away at the single alternate lane road works to the North of Newbury when it went , so stopped the whole road frown Y2 will understand how much hassle this caused at peak time !

Hopoefully low revs etc she may be lucky , but ........ just got to sit it out now.

Need to have a look through the paperwork to see when they were last changed.

Fitted new belts and tensioner on my V70 last year.

Yep, me too. Hopefully low revs will be the factor here. I was nearly flat out giving mine the beans when mine went .

Perhaps I exaggerate a little, although I had been booting it down the bypass.

There were no noises or anything, so it could have been on the overrun as I slowed for the roundabout, or as I pulled onto the roundabout behind a truck (so very slowly). I rolled onto the roundabout using momentum, it was only when I went to put the power back on that I realised there was a problem.

Once you get started I could well be interested in the steering rack and PAS pump (presuming yours are OK). We will just have to check the racks are the same, as Volvo fitted 4 different types!
They were behaving just fine, so I think they're alright. I'll set them aside and we can check the part no's.

Belt pulley missing and a bit of damage but all is a right royal result.

Missing bits ordered and will be fixed tomorrow.

All the good wishes from you guys worked.

Y2 , it was the road out of the south of Newbury where it broke down ,( not north )

I've got a great one! Kind of lacking in motive power though.

Not any more mate, decided to part ways after only a short time. It all worked out in the end though, speaking to a variety of people all day whilst I put on a Ugandan accent and pretend to be from British Gas biggrin
