S60 D5... owners

Sport spec added some nice 17" alloys, colour coded lower mouldings, rear spoiler and half-leather trim as standard with alu inserts. (The SE differs by having chrome external trims, full leather interior, Dolby stereo as std.
The document linked below will explain everything:

I dont think the suspension differs at all...... but happy to be told otherwise.
Im pretty sure theres no such thing as an 'S Sport' - at least not in the official line up. Thing is, a lot of owners went quite mental with the options and often turned Sports in to SEs, and vice versa - or bought S models and then (very strangely) specced them up to SE standards.
Stupid Volvoists
Ta, I was hoping the Sport would be an SE with better spec like my BMW 3 and 5 Sports were. I will only buy an S60 with the Dolby system as I love listening to music in the car and a decent stereo is close to the top of my list if I'm not able to upgrade it myself. The document linked below will explain everything:

I had 4 wheel alignment done on mine this morning. Ever since I've had the summer wheels back on its never felt right and has felt a bit squirmy and unsettled. Usually i'd normally just get the front done but thought I may as well get the rear done too as its probably never been done.
I've only driven it up the road so not really felt the benefit yet but here is the print out for anyone who is interested!

I've been living here about 12 months, the mrs is Mossley born and bred. I'm just behind the Red Rose Curry house on Manchester road, what about you? If you see me give me a wave!Eta, I can recommend a very good garage if you need one.

My S60 D5 did a 1000 mile round trip to Scotland without missing a beat this weekend.
One thing I noticed though, is that the main beam won't stay on. I pull the lever to flash the main beam, and if I continue pulling I feel the point at which it should engage. Only thing is, when I let go, the stalk returns to the normal position and the lights return to dipped beam. Is this a known issue?

Have you turned the lights on? If you're running on DRL it won't stay on main beamOne thing I noticed though, is that the main beam won't stay on. Ah. Thanks. I didn't realise. Seems they work just fine. That's embarrassing!
What's the difference between drl and turning the lights on then, other than main beam not staying on?
Nb. Averaged 48mpg over its first tank, normal driving, mostly motorway. No special economy driving. On board computer said something like 57 though!

Nothing in its standard form but I presume you can get it reprogrammed. I always leave mine in the on position. Takes me a while to work out why the full beam isn't working after an MOT. They always turn them off for some reason. One of these is possibly on my list for a daily commuter, having been round the houses on diesel or not. The thing is I'm doing 90-100 miles per day, mostly motorway, but a bit of B road blasting on the way home. The S60 appeals as a bit of a leftfield choice and a trader local to me has a gorgeous looking 2005 facelift 163 D5 SE manual with FVSH and just 56k on the clock. It's a bit over my budget, but it looks a peach. Hmmmm.

pstruck,
what's the asking price?
Probably a bit steep at £5.5k, but it looks very clean, has great spec and still represents a lot of car for the money. I'm trying to resist going to view it though, as I don't want temptation getting the better of me and I'm still a bit concerned that the running costs of one of these over something more mundane may be too much for what will essentially be a workhorse.what's the asking price?
I see you're south-west based. Are you going to see it? It's still up on AT.

As a comparison i paid £2800 for mine with then 96k on it. Also immaculate.

Good. Means I am non tempted. Stuff down here in the south-west does tend to be more pricey than elsewhere in the country. Frustratring and means travelling to get better value for money. As a comparison i paid £2800 for mine with then 96k on it. Also immaculate.

I am south west based but I picked an s60 up a few weeks ago. 05 euro 3 facelift with 75k, fsh, for £4k. One dent in the rear quarter panel, otherwise it's average body wise. Mechanicals seem good, I've serviced it and replaced the tyres (needed doing) and brakes (were ok actually, but I got the parts for an attractive price) since. Davie_GLA said:

....or does it have £2.5k worth of used £20s stashed in the glovebox?
Being one of only three of its type on AT in the southwest (manual facelift D5 SE 163, nice spec, <100k) I guess they can ask a higher price. It’s not like there is a selection of them at cheaper prices in the area to encourage them to price lower. I’m not even going to look at it, but if someone in the area is looking for a low mileage one of these and isn’t prepared to travel 100’s of miles then they may well bite.
Expensive it may be, but having looked at what else £5-6k buys you (diesel slogger) then it’s a whole lot more interesting and better spec’d than many of the other options.
Here's the link by the way.... AT ad link
