im sprucing up a diecast car , the plastic interior had been factory painted and then halfords primer from me , its all crazed up

ive never stripped a model before, so is there any risks to brake fluid stripping ? any chance of the plastic melting etc?

No risk whatsoever as far as I'm concerned - I've never got it to work!

I only use brake fluid for removing decals. Also use acetone free nail varnish remover pads.

For stripping paint, I use Nitromors (green can). However, this CANNOT be used on plastic as it will melt it.

Guess it could depend on the specific material, but I've used it recently on my Tamiya S2000 body with no problems. You need to leave the part immersed for several days though (depending on how old the paint is). Then wash it with neat detergent, then wash and rinse in hot water.

You obviously need to wash and dry it thoroughly...

There used to be a product called Modelstrip which was specifically intended for removing paint from plastic, but I don't know if it's still available. Someone I know says Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner will do the same thing!

I've used Model Strip a couple of times and it definitely works. However, it is extremely bad value for money as, over time, it goes hard in the tub. You end up only using about 1/3 of the tub.

I was looking into this for the Games Workshop plastic models, and found that Fairy Power spray works too.

Don't like the sound of that product, Fairy Power sounds like it could be dangerous - especially in the wrong hands.
