ive got a part on a model that id like remade in clear

doesnt need to be crystal clear , just good enough to show light through

i was thinking press it into plastecine then fill the mold with clear epoxy ? would that work

any suggestions how i can do it for cheap , i cant really afford to go buying lots of materials

If you cannot just pull a piece of acetate sheet across the item for a simple moulding, you may be able to make a mould out of silicone sealant

Make a box of plasticard close to the size of your item then pour silicone sealer into the box and after greasing the original item with vaseline put it into the silicone

Then forget it for a week or more

or even more

I used this technique to produce two identical PT6A engines for a project many years ago

The sealant can either cure slowly and stay cool or cure quickly by heating up

Prior experiments with the sealer of your choice is advised smile

can I ask for a picture of what you want to replicate?

Isnt a clear epoxy going to be expensive?
