Mods please feel free to move this!

On a whim I have bought an RC helicopter, an ESky King 3.

It refuses to lift off directly up but wants to tip over to its left, no matter where i put the control so is there anyone in the Portsmouth area that flies RC that could give me a few lessons in exchange for beer!

Read the instructions readit

You need to 'trim' it for it to take off straight up.

How many batteries does it take? My mum's ex-bf bought my son one but we don't have the space to fly it, that and it takes 20 batteries for 15minutes of flying time. Makes it more expensive than my car to run.

Does sound like trim issues.

Is it a twin rotor? If so the problem is probably not trim related.

Mr Google informs me it is twin rotor,so, yes, something else amiss.

I have read the instructions Doh! and to be fair it does say

"a new to fly person will get flying people to help setup learn"

Ha! reminds me of the warning on the packaging of a BB gun "Don't point at the person or the animal".

The guy who stops airplane propellers with his tounge or hands (I forget) must have started with RC helicopters. Would've been interesting to watch his first follies.

Everyone should buy one, they are a piece of piss to fly, you dont need any training as they virtually fly themselves.

You'll be flying inverted nose in circles in a day or two, no probs.

No need for flight insurance as they can't hurt someone in any way.

go register on the heliguy.com forum as there is loads of stuff on there but this is a main head setup guide which goes through the main points

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/main-rotor-inspection...

I would suspect swash plate not level or blade tracking is out. Even perfectly setup you can still get a little roll on takeoff due to ground effect but once its about a foot off the deck this should settle.

I know its tempting when starting to try and hover as low as possible to prevent crashing but its actually a bit more twitchy at very low level. Stick the training gear on it if you have it.

I could never get on with the training gear on my HoneyBee FP - it delays everything and I found that by the time I corrected the position it was too late.

Getting the thing a few feet away from the floor does help a lot.
