Finished the helicopter after a six month break half way through the build (box was put away). The drive from over the door isn't turning anything so I will have to strip back down to the gearbox if I want it working. May just hang it up in the kids room though.
You need to push the lever either to the left or right? There's one on each side, can't remember which one but the rear door, rotors, landing gear and winch can all be manipulated depending on which lever you've engaged?

Also I didn't realise the Cargo Plane was a motorised set so even more pleased. smile
So it's for the kids right wink.
Yep thanks aware of what it should do but the side drive shaft powers a slip gear in the gearbox hence nothing turning, I did think it was an unusual arrangement when building that bit months ago.....

Might I ask a quick question?

My wife got me the Unimog last Christmas and I've finally found time to build it (really enjoying it too - first Technics in nearly 30 years!)

Having completed the chassis (ie all '1' parts), should the motor run the wheels and/or engine or just the pump and front/rear ancillary shafts?

I can't see how it can and the engine won't operate from the wheels because of the diffs. I'm beginning to wonder if I screwed up the gears somewhere?
It doesn't move on its own, but make sure you put the diffs in the right way or you wont be able to roll it along.

Thanks - good to know I haven't got it wrong then!

I did put the central transfer box in backwards originally and only notices half-way through the second book! cursebiggrin

I picked the Crane up from Smyths on Friday using the promo-code mentioned on the previous page, got it for £100. Finished book 1 last night, really enjoyable build so far. smile

Careful when you get to the outriggers, the gearing is slightly different from side to side. If you get it wrong they won't move in and out in unison. One of my favourite models.

I can't decide which to build next - Unimog, Crane or the Volvo digger. All are currently in the living whilst I try & make m mind up.

SWMBO isn't happy...

The order you have listed them in is the way I would rate them as well, the Volvo is not as challenging as the other two and the Unimog the best IMO....

Yep, did the rear out-riggers last night and after remembering comments from this very thread I double checked everything!! biggrin

Great build so far, I can't believe how clever the design is to be honest and so compact with everything in it. Whoever did design it is clearly far cleverer than me!

Unimog is still the best build IMO.

Volvo is big, but pretty simple TBH.

Ha ha - indeed!! My two-year-old would keep brushing past it all - and that would have been too much to correct each time - so I conceded to piling them!
