So the new big technic model for August launch is decent. If you liked the Unimog you'll love this, although they are a bit too similar for my liking. Lots of cool pneumatics and the B model looks cool too.
Arctic thing is a bit meh....
Crane jobby is cool, but again most of you will have a crane in 42009.... Its big, but it seems a bit basic for an expensive set.
Kit I'd most want to take home is the speed champions Ferrari truck and F1 car or the new city space port (60080). Overall all the speed champion stuff looks good. The 3 cars are a bit crap, but being £12.99 models you can't expect much. I wish they could have made £24.99 or £39.99 cars so the proportions were a bit better, but these models are designed to sit just above the basic great vehicles/city lines like the 60053 race car.
Overall some good stuff coming from all the themes.

Thanks for the update Russ.
Any comment on the Scooby Doo sets?
Didn't excite me massively, I much prefer Legos own sets over the licences. But overall it looks good, nice bright products and good packaging.Any comment on the Scooby Doo sets?
Mystery machine was cool and packed a lot of detail into a small package, will be a big seller no doubt.
Light house looks really good, different from your typical Lego building - good pricepoint too...
In fairness the Mansion is excellent, similar to the vampyre castle but with some more wacky colours and more features.
Minifigs are decent too, lots of them.
All I can say is, you wouldn't believe how many haunted castles I built in Lego when I was a kid and Scooby Doo was on telly! Actually, given who you lot are, I suspect more than one of you would have done the same
Hopefully Mystery Mansion will have some hidden little tricks, along the same lines as the Detective Office.

The brick separator isn't any good for taking 1x1 flat tiles off plates, or dismantling this:
In fact, any studless Technic is the worst culprit. Pulling out the vast number of connector pins is what has indented the ends of my fingers, I think.
The brick separator is something I rarely use; I've got loads now because they seem to come with every Creator set over a certain size, but it's a slow way of doing things and I have my own, very successful methods of removing pieces.

I'm guessing you had this one, which I'm quite envious of - I was about 16 when it came out and started to wind down my Lego a bit. Fortunately my dark ages only lasted a few years
The 2003 one above is absolutely brilliant though; it's almost the perfect combination of function density and form.
