Just bought the Arocs, couldn't resist at that price as I've had my eye on it for a while. I'm going to be in so much trouble oh well, what's that saying about forgiveness and permission? I think that was first coined by someone with a lego/technic obsession!
The Le Mans racer is also absurdly cheap at that price. I got it just before Christmas, I thought it was a great build and an all round fantastic model, it dwarfs the Lego F40 and T1 camper it shares a shelf with, well worth the money IMO.

Resisted the urge to buy the Merc truck and instead dug these old dust collectors out of the spare room - little nephew had got his hands on the bar code truck it seems... anyway, my Friday night and Saturday afternoon were spent demolishing them, cleaning the parts and rebuilding... only a couple of parts missing thanks to a big box of other unassembled models. Sadly didn't have 6 AA batteries to test if the bar code truck works... it did have 1 battery in the power unit which had leaked st all over a terminal so not holding out much hope

I parted out a couple of those when i built my gold wash plant. Not technical but this seems like the best place to ask.
Where is the best place to buy a job lot of single coloured bricks ? The background is my GF is opening a soft play centre soon and I thought it would be quite cool if the table number signs and other sign-age was made of Lego (glued together of course)
Ben

The porsche "launches" today, but it seems lego are holding back shipping to fix some technical problems with the set
Initial reviews highlight a poorly working gearbox, and a lack of proper technical features, coupled with a very high price/parts ratio.
There's an unboxing & build write up here, it looks like Lego have got the gear ratios in the wrong order rather than anything else. It's not helped by much of the technical elements being hidden from view once finished.Initial reviews highlight a poorly working gearbox, and a lack of proper technical features, coupled with a very high price/parts ratio.

I still want one though!
As always, the mechanics look amazing.
However I think that bodywork looks a bit iffy with way too many gaps between the panels so when I get mine I think I will build it without the body panels.
Of course I might change my mind when I see the model in the flesh. Am I the only one who doesn't like the panel gaps??

The panel gaps don't bother me at all- I would personally rather see that than an ever increasing number of model-specific parts. They start becoming less Lego, more scale model then. However I think that bodywork looks a bit iffy with way too many gaps between the panels so when I get mine I think I will build it without the body panels.

That said, this particular set doesn't appeal to me that much anyway- just as well really as I couldn't afford it if it did!
I've started the slippery slope.
The news of the Porsche got me interested again.
Dug out my 2 favourite sets (8479 and 8880) from the loft, cleaned them up and rebuilt them, now on display.
Told myself I'd just sit tight and get the Porsche and see what other models come out in this new line in the future but I couldn't help looking at the direction Technic had gone since the 8479 which was the last set I got (my 9th birthday, 19 years ago).
Well after weeks of twiddling fingers, I ordered the Arocs truck and what a build it is.
Now I'm tempted to start back tracking through all the Technic flag ships.

I highly recommend the Le Mans car and the F1 car from the last few years too.The news of the Porsche got me interested again.

Nope. The massive gaps under the headlamps look utter ste. However I think that bodywork looks a bit iffy with way too many gaps between the panels so when I get mine I think I will build it without the body panels.

So bad that I don't think I want one to build. I might buy one to stick away and sell in a few years though
There is also a new release Claas tractor thing in the catalogue that looks pretty good.
Just seen this pop up on facebook! Giant Wheel Excavator!
