Anybody else take this approach when completing their GT3RS? Or was I just being sad? Made it much easier though haha.
I like rummaging through to find pieces up to a point, but a bit of organisation...

Taking my time building though... an hour or so every now and again... plus time to disassemble and rebuild when stupidly thinking I'd build a bit after 2 bottles of wine.

The organisation bit didn't speed it up at all, took ages to do! Did make it easier.

I ended up getting to the end of box 1 before realising that I had used the wrong piece in the gearbox in the beginning. Hours and hours of work lost but I didn't mind at all.

Loved every minute of it and now need more lego in my life!

The gap in front of the headlight on my GT3RS was nagging me so I had a go at plugging it - not perfect, but (to me) looks better than the void.

Did you have to source those bits or were they spares? I would prefer to do that over the gap also.

Looks like a dinner party.

I've found a gt3 rs second hand and already built at a good price. How much enjoyment am I going to lose though by disassembling before I can assemble it?

I had to source them but I did borrow them from elsewhere on the car to see if they would fit/work first.

If it's a very good price just take it to pieces drunk and leave it a while. If it's just a little cheaper I'd pay full price.

I thought as much. Ended up ordering a brand new one instead at a slightly higher price. Cheers.

The GT3s have a code you can use to tell you more about the base car and theLlego development process. If the code has been used once you'd be ok, but twice and it can't be used anymore. The only other thing you would be missing is the "in box" presentation which was nice, but not really added value.

I was more worried about gaining too much of an understanding of how it went together in the process of disassembling it and taking away a lot of the fun of (eventually) building it again.
I've ordered a brand new one now anyway which should be with me tomorrow. It's a (35th) birthday present to myself..

Just a heads up.
Anyone still after an Mercedes-Benz Arocs 42043, Tesco got them back in stock at £124, and if you order online (and use your Clubcard when shopping) you usually have a load of little E Vouchers that you can apply making it even cheaper. Ended up being under £100 for me :-)

Cheers for that ..Was going to get it from John lewis but the price has gone back up and still out of stock Hope is doesn't turn up being kicked around the warehouse like the Claas Tractor did (torn box as mentioned by others ).. the GT3 and deep bucket excavator on the same order were boxed together with air bags and survived the kicking ..thank God ! angel
