I've got no interest in paying near double just because the box hasn't been opened laugh

[quote=djdest]I don't suppose anyone has an 8258 Crane Truck sitting around they fancy selling for a sensible price? smile

As its a retired set would L***n do? Dont like using that word in this thread. £80 of aliexpress, sensible enough.

£80 starts to sound expensive for that. I'd be far more tempted to spend £132 (currently, at Tesco Direct) for the AROCS truck.

Arocs isn't retired,8258 is.Hence the price difference. Arocs price will increase no doubt when TLG retire it.

I would only ever buy the real thing, retired or not.
I'm tempted to buy it via bricklink and change the colours

Yes, hence the AROCS being a much better buy. It's a bigger set in the first place and it's cheaper than the cheapest used 8258.

Was just trying to help out who wanted a cheap retired set.
The only reason i mentioned L***N.

Arocs {real} is still sat in its box so no idea how good build is yet smile

Same here - I paid £128 for it but it seems to have been £82 at Tesco at one point. Should have bought a load!

I want to use it with a trailer though, and the AROCS isn't as as good for it

Warmed up last week by building LEGO Technic 42047: Police Interceptor Mixed with my 5yr daughter

Then started on the Porsche GT3 on Sunday. Slow progress as i was building the GT3 and she decided to build something else with the array of parts! She happened to use one sleeved part that i needed and coudnt locate, until i pulled her model to bits.

She's having fun, as am i, so cant complain. Might take a little longer than i had hoped though.

Wasn't there already a launch of the kits at a toy fair in February?

I remember some sort of 6x6 looking truck with power functions?

That can't be the big summer launch kit though surely? It's less than 2000 pieces.

That's quite cool. I still have 8860 (though in my loft in the UK), with the instructions, no box sadly, so not worth much, not that I'd sell it.

I like the look of the 8860 remake, all three kits ordered but in two separate orders so that I got two beetles which is a nice bonus.

The aniversary is 40 years from the first Technical sets -850 to 853. I was a spoiled git with a rich uncle so I had them all. The 8860 was a 1980 release.

I still might just as an excuse to dig out the original from the attic. I won't be bothering with the tow truck this summer.
