As for the other chaps, I'll check my mail shortly when I get to the office - was enjoying the sun yesterday so haven't been online ina while.
Cheers I picked up the new helicopter at Argos on Monday. I was suprised to get it so quickly, as I had thought that the new models aren't released until August.

That Rock Crawler looks awesome, it looks a similar size to the Unimog is, that about right?
Did you have any problems during the build? When I built the Unimog I found a couple of problems like the front axle being out of line and it had an awful turning circle, both easy fixes though.
I went up in the loft last night and brought down all the Technic I have and decided to sort out and rebuild the 8480 Space Shuttle, it may take me a while since it hasn't been built for nearly 15 years, maybe even longer.

That rock crawler looks ace! I am very tempted to go and pick one up later (seems that Newbury have stock) but wonder whether Argos will be doing the same 3 for 2 offer on toys as they did last Autumn. I quite fancy the crawler, logger and helicopter

For a mere £995.00.......... I saw that too and had a chortle to myself. It makes the one on ebay with a buy-it-now price of £149 plus £15 P&P seem positively reasonable! I hadn't realised that it was quite so sought after when I let one slip by me for £60-ish on ebay a few weeks back....

I purchased the brand new Rock Crawler and O EMM GEEEE. Lego has changed since my childhood.
Thought it would take 3 hours tops, oh how naive I was.
Have probably put about 6 hours and have only just finished the rolling chassis and still have the body to do so I thought I would go for the customary 'mid build exploration' and was thoroughly impressed. The only 'problem' is the lack of LSD so it can go mental but can still scale the likes of shoes and a bag of books lol. Rock Crawlers have a locked diff - otherwise they would never be able to get up or over anything decent sized!

Well chuffed. Cracking deal Yep. Next task is to find out on whose car the kit is based so that I can locate drivers name & Marlboro decals. Shouldn't be too hard with the help of Mr Google! Also buying the excavator tomorrow & got my eye on a couple of other kits as well. Just somehow have to break it to swmbo exactly how much I have spent on toys for me...... She doesn't understand the love people have for Lego.

That sort of thing happens a lot on Amazon (and Ebay). The item never exists, the advert is only their to make another item look cheap. It can sometimes be caused by "bots" checking competitors items, and re-listing items above their competitor's price but with an amount added to cover handling and profit. If the original item disappears, 2 bots can get into a race and the price can get stupid very quickly.

I need to get the Excavator as well, it's on my list for next Payday Has anyone ever had any problems buying kits off of ebay? I'm always a little concerned about getting all the bits especially when they are unbuilt. You can pick up some great bargains though (always wanted the 8880 Supercar and ebay is the only place left to get one).

Have you tried looking on www.bricklink.com for sets and parts? It's a marketplace dedicated to Lego trading. I use it occasionally for bits and pieces - there are loads of sellers and I've never had a problem. It's a little old-fashioned (Takes a while to learn how the site works ) and nothing like as immediate as Amazon or Ebay but you can find everything there and usually at a decent price. (Just had a quick look and the 8421 Crane can be had used on Bricklink for less than 150 quid)
