Indeed, it was disappointing. They used the smallest room available in the building I think.
The guy was a one-man band though and he must have put some time into just setting up. Unfortunately when I was cahtting to him he was telling me that some things (mini-figures and smaller models) had been pinched.

Anybody know which functions on the 8421 crane are motorised?. Think I got a bit of a bargain for £60. Needed £25 worth of parts to complete + I think its missing a gear somewhere to rotate the boom but not worked out where yet!
instructions here http://service.lego.com/en-gb/buildinginstructions enter 8421 and you get access to the pdf'sJust had a look at mine and boom lift is pneumatic, rotation is manual, boom extension and hook are motorised

Ta, worked out it's missing a 24t clutch gear. Sneaky seller substituted it for another gear that was too small to run off the cog below! Another £1.50 should sort it outJust had a look at mine and boom lift is pneumatic, rotation is manual, boom extension and hook are motorised

Trying to find a good deal on 42030 as didn't buy one in the group buy - big mistake as I bought 10225 R2D2 instead. What a disappointment that was once it was built!!!!
Anyway. Amazon currently have some deals - 42008, the Service Truck, can be had for just £72.99 & 42009, the large crane, can be had for a mere £112.76!!!!
Just a shame I have them both.

Too embarrassed as dropped out at the last minute. Shouldn't have done that. R2D2 is a real disappointment. - so bad that i will be putting it on fleabay & i never sell anything once it has been bought.
However in the case of R2 he has to go as I just dont like the finished item.
Stop being a pussy and send me a PM!!However in the case of R2 he has to go as I just dont like the finished item.
I'm really not bitter that you pulled out!! I have 50+ in stock at any one time, so an extra one doesn't hurt!

I keep meaning to get my R2D3 out and build it. Your appraisal don't bode well for an exciting build or end product!!However in the case of R2 he has to go as I just dont like the finished item.
I think I may be alone in actually liking the R2D2 build, and the posability once built.
He's not that small either - the photo shows him next to the Unimog

Anyone else not thrilled with the Volvo loader? I love the massive sets - the Unimog and then the crane last year were brilliant - but I feel for £170 the loader should be better - couldn't tell you why / how, just not one of their best. I much preferred the 42029 pick up truck build for £100 less.
I'm having a sort out and need to make some space - anyone interested in a never built 41999 (still in the postage box it arrived in from Lego) send me a PM.

How rare is 8458 the Silver Champion F1 car?
Is it worth £70.00 for a kit that 'a few parts (not known which ones) have fallen off', doesn't have any instructions or the box & has stickers that have flaked off.
I assume that the instructions can be downloaded however is it possible to purchase a complete set of new stickers?
I'm tempted however I haven't seen one advertised for a while.

You can get new stickers (£15) & instructions as a download OR buy them off ebay/web. Its the missing bits that are the lottery. Personally If I had £60 to get some lego off the bay of flees, I would go with the newer 42000 if it had to be an F1 car or stick another £20 in and go for something like the Racers Enzo with no box or instructions and download them off the net.Is it worth £70.00 for a kit that 'a few parts (not known which ones) have fallen off', doesn't have any instructions or the box & has stickers that have flaked off.

I already have 42000 - bought it the day it was released.
Had already looked at the Racers Enzo. Currently selling for anywhere between £150 & £200.

Whaaaat?! I picked up one of these, along with the Racers Ferrari F1 model, for about £30 each off ebay a couple of years back (albeit without boxes). I bought them on a whim after getting back into Lego after a 30 year or so break. The F1 car graces my desk in my man-cave but the Enzo is currently languishing half-built in a carrier bag down the side of the desk..... I had no idea they were so valuable!
(I'm still kicking myself for missing out on a 599 kit a while back because I was too cheap to stick in another bid and take it over the £50 mark. They go for mad money these days. Sigh)
