First time for me. Several bits left over, but the large white gear cog, nope, no where to be found. Have checked them model several time to make sure I have not used it somewhere else by accident and nope....so annoying.

For anyone interested, Tesco have the "LEGO Technic Mobile Crane MK II 42009" on sale at £102:34:
http://www.tesco.com/direct/lego-technic-mobile-cr...

Usual disclaimer, I have no financial interest in the above item etc etc. It does say that on delivery it will have to be signed for by an adult which rules most of us out I think...

I've had a few sets recently and most have some spares.

But one had a missing L section half-thickness beam thingy.

And the RC excavator from a few years back had about 6 missing parts!

I didn't realise you could order from Lego.

Seems a bit of a faff. Do you get any compensation too? Like free extra parts or something?

You get the missing parts for free, no extras, they take 1-2 weeks to arrive. They have tightened up the procedure recently. I was asked for a special number off the back of the manual for a missing piece of my Death Star. After I supplied it they sent out the bits as usual. I guess some people were asking for parts for sets they didn't even own.

They monitor accounts for the amount of replacements being ordered.

I've got tonnes of lego (not so much technic, don't really get on with it). Have never had a piece missing. Sometimes taken a bit of searching through my sorter box (I always empty the bags out into a couple of small compartment "sorter" boxes like you get for screws etc, and do a rough sort into piece type, and don't open all the bags at once just the "current number" set, so not too many pieces to deal with at once). The elusive piece has always been there somewhere. I guess I have been lucky.

Johnny Cash's "One Piece At A Time" springs to mind...

No if that's missing it was just me rushing. It's a unique piece there's only one on the model.

It's the yellow 2x2 circular plate which should be under the trans yellow 2x2 round brick used for steering.

I really can't believe I spotted that. I don't even own the set!

Yay, well spotted. I can't believe it's the only piece missing after it's been mixed up in a box of random bricks which has moved house twice since I last built it.

I remember that kit, and rebuilding it into the combine harvester.

Yes, the best Technic was in that era probably. Lots of 'as real life' functions rather than made up ones that the current stuff has.

Looking back I was pretty lucky through the late 80s and early 90s, I think every one of the bigger Technic kits was bought for me for Christmas, Birthdays or other times I was being bored when visiting relatives and family hehe

I'm building the rescue helicopter now but there are quite a few missing parts including the hook and a grey swing-arm for the winchfrown

When I get it finished i'll post it.

I looked on Brickset to see if any current kits have the little yellow circles in and there is a small City Police Swamp thing helicopter which has 4, I'll have a hunt for one this weekend.

I picked one of these up from the bay of dreams last year. Only had chance to take it apart so far as it came fully built.

I had this when I was younger. Still got it in it's original box. Might have to build it again. I remember one of the rams busted and I bought a new one. Great kit.
I've also got the car with the pop up headlamps and the rescue helicopter. All boxed. Think this thread will make me buy a few more. biggrin
