Going to collect mine today. Planted the seed that may be going on cheap in the next few weeks. Will keep them hidden until then.

Hugely pissed off with Tesco.

Collected my Bucket Excavator last night & waited for them to give me the Class Tractor. Guy said they didn't have it because it was now out of stock - despite me having paid for it & receiving an order/collection confirmation email & text.

Asked with he meant & he repeated that the stock was gone so I wouldn't be getting the Tractor.

Told me that the money had been refunded to my account & that there was nothing he could do about it.

Not happy however not his fault.

Called 'customer services' this morning & once I had bypassed the usual press this button & then that button bks I managed to speak to a human.

All I got was the usual excuses, fob offs, we sold out quickly blah blah blah & the fact I had paid & received confirmation appeared largely irrelevant.

And the final insult. The guy on the phone said that the Tractor was, suddenly & miraculously back in stock.

At £107.90.........

Told him to jog on. Morons.

I drove to a Toysrus last Christmas to pick something else up (not Lego), paid, had receipt and text saying it was there. You can imagine my annoyance after a 18 mile trip to Basingstoke of all places to be told it wasn't in stock. How difficult can it be.

I make them open it in store, if its battered then it goes back. If it happens again tomorrow I will be making a formal complaint. If Amazon can mange to deliver stuff without it looking like its been kicked round the warehouse then I am sure Tesco can get their st together and do the same.

Just to give you guys a heads up - Whilst its great for you guys as consumers I am absolutely pissed off with the prices of some of these Technic kits on TESCO etc! Believe it or not most of these prices are actually considerably less than the price I pay directly from LEGO! I mean the 911 was £159 from TESCO this week - absolutely crazy considering its a £250 kit. Needless discounting and pure and simple de-valuing of the product.

Please dont think you were ripped off earlier in the year! I have had to reduce my price of certain kits (42056 included) to loss making territory in order to shift the stock and get £££ in the bank - and even at this price we are >£20 more expensive and selling a couple pieces per week.

The GT3 is even cheaper than that Russ - £156.73.

I don't think anyone can feel ripped off and your group buys are appreciated. I bought two GT3s from you when launched (along with the bucket excavator, Claas tractor, Arocs etc.) thinking they would be limited release - at today's Tesco prices that's about £100 overs. C'est la vie!

The challenges of their bulk buying power. Personally, I like to support independents which is why I tend to order from you anyway (but am not averse to Argos' 3 for 2s) smile

I personally dont believe that its anything to do with bulk buying power - dont get me wrong this will exist and its highly likely that they will buy this stuff cheaper than us. BUT, for them to operate profitably at those prices they'd have to be buying at silly prices, prices that LEGO simply do not need to offer... its simply a case of buying the market/customer and shifting excess stock back into £££.

Russ, I don't think anyone could feel ripped off buying the GT3 etc from you - that was at launch when the deal you did couldn't be matched. It would take some serious dedication and expectation to wait for it at £159 or lower.

Are Lego flooding the market a bit with big sets these days?

It could be that they made too many.... I just looked at all the big sets this year and kind of had a 'meh' at them so didn't buy any. They might need to shift excess stock just as much as russ...

Shame they didn't make more of the haunted house a couple of years ago; that's one I'd love but I'm never going to pay the prices being asked now. I didn't realise it existed until too late to buy it. Have been keeping a much closer eye on sets released since.

I know this is the Technic thread, but I don't think Technic stuff has gone up in price on the secondhand market in quite the same way. Maybe the Unimog.

Depends on the set, I think. I ebayer a Technic rescue helicopter recently which had sat in the cupboard for a couple of years unbuilt as I didn't have room for it - it sold for £140. That was a £70 RRP set. I was lucky enough to pick it up for £30 when Tesco was clearing stock....

At the same time, I sold an 8070 Super Car set which I had opene but not built - I thought I'd get more for that than the helicopter but it ended up going for £90-ish, not much more than when new. BNIB does seem to command a sizeable premium....

(PS I can't recall whether you're one of those opposed as a matter of principle to knock offs but Lepin has copied the big Haunted House set....)

Not opposed in principle but I don't think I'd enjoy it the same way. And I have too much Lego to build anyway.

The Tesco price drops are part of their strategy to gain market share on toys this year and become the Home of Most Loved Toys. They have been able to do this by investing savings made e.g removing Club Card boost. The consequence is that it devalues the product.

I still think I got a bargain buying from you russ.

What I find amazing is on the Lego site they say the GT3 is a hard to find model yet clearly the market is flooded with them.

If they offer another technic car of similar design I will happily preorder with yourself than wait for the price to drop £60-70 a few months later.

I think volume could of had an impact on the GT3, when I first saw the prototype it was firmly a must have, then when I saw the production version in orange, the cost of it and the lack of power functions it firmly fell into meh.

I picked it up for £180 from John Lewis which feels much closer to a realistic price for it to me.

Ditto, I'd buy from Russy again, though now I live in the US the P&P might be too much.

I'd buy again from you too Russ. I really wouldn't worry about the prices etc, most of the people are sensible enough to know that the big stores will at times sell at a loss or really cheap price just to a) get the punters in or b) shift stock around christmas time.

The group buys are really well appreciated!
