Something is bothering me with this. Is there no way to have the engine on and in motion for more than the 5 odd seconds it does something? There must be a modification?

With mine, and it sounds like most others you wouldn't want it running for long because of the horrible noise of the motor. Shame that the one piece you don't assemble yourself let's the kit down frown
The best mod would be to change it for something else a little quicker evil

But it would also appear to be sold out.
Have you contacted them? I think I will try and get in touch with them to find out if they can get any smile

They will be back in stock within the next 2 weeks and probably at a cheaper price.

Ok, I finally got hold of Tony at Hannnts and he says they will be in at the end if next week. I asked if they would do discount for a group buy but its not something they do. frown

Ah well, just letting you know if you're interested. smile

I saw that in Halfords during the sale. Had a quick flick through and was not impressed. Nothing really of interest, just looked like it was put together with random stuff from a Star Trek bumper annual.

Did mine my son's one yesterday and also forgot to lube the bearings. Bugger.

Motor wasn't working at first either but a bit of persuasive internal reassembly soon sorted that.

And yes, it is very noisy!

Did you have any difficulty with the manifold, mine seemed to be very reluctant to clip into place

Make are you're putting it in the right hole smile I had the same problem, bit of persuasion and in it went.

Hannants is the best modelshop in the known universe. If you wend your way to their Oulton Broad location they let you wander around the warehouse, unescorted. Beware, though, it can be a very expensive wander. They have everything you could wish for, plus stuff you never even knew existed.

Also try Wonderland Models for the V8s. There's more than one version.

Built mine a couple of years ago, overall I was a bit disappointed. The build quality was not great and I swear (despite many attempts and double checking) that the cam timing is totally wrong (ok being a bit pedantic but its a critical part of an engine)and the spark plug lights also seem to be have the wrong timing. Yes I know it sounds like a build error but after several goes it seems to be just poor sloppy parts fit and tolerances.

And the motor makes more noise scale for scale than a real one.

And more.. left it on display (as you might) and the plastic has gone green spoiling the whole look of the thing.

Oh and the fan belt snapped after a week.

Shame as really it promised to be excellent.
