Bit of a bump, got one of these (the Haynes 4 banger) for Christmas
Anyone needed to put oil in theirs? The motor can't drive the engine without the motor-camshaft cogs jumping out, seems to be a certain point in the camshaft rotation which is a bit of the stiff side.
Mines been working perfectly for years. I think I might have oiled it on assembly.Anyone needed to put oil in theirs? The motor can't drive the engine without the motor-camshaft cogs jumping out, seems to be a certain point in the camshaft rotation which is a bit of the stiff side.

Won't veg oil slowly dry up? Wouldn't you bet better with some sewing machine oil?
If I recall correctly, Pocher recommend olive oil to lubricate the bores/bearings on their 1:8 scale kits. Of course, being Italian...they would. Some proper lube oils might not be very kind to the plastic over time.

Bit of a thread bump.
Are there any models smaller than this that are an actual working engine that can be built? I fancy having something petrol powered to put in the garage and tweak.
There are whole forums dedicated to scratch building working model engines but the only one I know of that you can buy is;Are there any models smaller than this that are an actual working engine that can be built? I fancy having something petrol powered to put in the garage and tweak.
