Bit of a bump, got one of these (the Haynes 4 banger) for Christmas

Anyone needed to put oil in theirs? The motor can't drive the engine without the motor-camshaft cogs jumping out, seems to be a certain point in the camshaft rotation which is a bit of the stiff side.

Mines been working perfectly for years. I think I might have oiled it on assembly.

Won't veg oil slowly dry up? Wouldn't you bet better with some sewing machine oil?

I'll be getting some silicone lubricant for the door seals (frozen again today irked and had to get in from the passenger door irked), that might be a better bet?

If I recall correctly, Pocher recommend olive oil to lubricate the bores/bearings on their 1:8 scale kits. Of course, being Italian...they would.

Some proper lube oils might not be very kind to the plastic over time.

Lithium grease should be used on plastic parts.
Although as this is mostly white it might be unsightly on this model.

Bit of a thread bump.

Are there any models smaller than this that are an actual working engine that can be built? I fancy having something petrol powered to put in the garage and tweak.

Might be best just picking up an old lawnmower or motorbike engine?

There are whole forums dedicated to scratch building working model engines but the only one I know of that you can buy is;

http://www.conleyprecision.com

It's nay cheap though!
