I very nearly bought a similar one when I was in Japan that had a camera on it, you could record movies from it onto SD cards, very cool.

A few years ago, not even the top end uber expensive 90 size gassers could muster these features. Absolutely amazing little thing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zfd3RA4NdcAwesome! That is awesome - don't think mine can do that...although was much cheaper I imagine

I bought one yesterday - after reading this thread a few days ago, and deciding to get back into Helis.
Last night got home and charged it up - staggered is not the word, i learned to fly a piccolo a few years ago, i have a caliber 30, and a trex - this thing makes them all seem like they were bodged together and can barely fly - its absolutely rock solid. I was flying in my lounge and I quite like my TV so just a few slow circuits round and a couple of battery packs - more tonight.
I think the only difference I found from flying my other helis is that this doesnt seem to want any stick input until you've got it airborne, bit of rudder and aileron normally to get it to go straight up - this - just a boot of throttle and away it goes.
I can see this getting expensive - mine came with the cheapy transmitter - already looking at the spectrum module for my old FF9 - brushless with bigger cells is normally the way forward with these things - presumably they are out there?

Bought my 8yr old lad a Chinook for Christmas, much better than the single rotor ones he already has, so controllable!

snowman99 said: MCPX All day :-) You will no doubt find it harder to fly but it handles exactly the same way as its bigger brothers which makes it a good lead into the hobby. If it is "going in" get the power off and you won't do much, if any, damage.

snowman99 said: If you want a challenge forget the mcx2 it basically flies itself. If you plan to fly outdoors over grass the mcpx2 would be great, it's an amazing heli (I have one too) but it's a bit lively for a beginner indoors and will take chunks out of your furniture. The MSR or MSR-X are good indoor options, the X version does not self-stabilise so it's a good challenge for a beginner. Also have a look at the Walkera Genius and V120D02S, the genius is very similar to the mcpx2 but looks less like a cheap toy; but getting parts for Walkera helis can be a pain. Pop over to helifreak.com it's a lively forum with lots of good advice.

Meant for my son as a xmas present but he was deeemed way too young for piloting duties......... Finally got the hang of it after some errant flying. For something so apparently flimsy its proved to be a tough little bugger. Despite a crash landing into the hounds water bowl (full) and hitting the ceiling / floor / various other things on numerous occassions its still going strong (unlike the hound who legs it outside as soon as it makes an appearance now!!) Getting about 10 to 15mins flying out of it per charge. The real challenge for me has been learning to modulate the throttle levels etc as the charge drops off. Great fun though, might even let my son have a go one day!!

Certainly not a toy for young kids (IMO) as you have to be extremely delicate with the controls but after a few hours of fly time I feel like I have mastered it! Just had this one delivered - it is brilliant!!! I had no idea it would be so stable in the air - absolutely ace - thanks for the link
