Cheers man, glad you appreciate it! One benefit of waiting this long is that I reckon I did a better job of the build than I might have when I was 9...
Know what you mean! I had my first at 12, followed by a succession of them, ending up racing a Schumacher Pro Cat and an Optima Mid, until I stopped when I was about 20.
Until last Christmas, when I bought my Re-Re Sand Scorcher in a picture I posted a bit further up the thread.
I sat at my dining room table on Boxing Day, with the kind of care and attention bestowed upon it, usually reserved for Heart Surgeons on patients! My girlfriend got a bit fed up with me in the end, 'wasting' our Christmas holiday time together building, what was to her, a toy.
But they don't get it, do they?!
Anyway, mine also ended up perfect. Although now after some fun, it's a bit scuffed...I spent a whole day on the bodyshell painting, putting on coats, letting it dry, flatting it back before the next coat, then laquer, then final flatting back and polishing. Ages spent picking out all the window rubber detailing in black, getting the tail lamps and indicators just right.
Then, the first run outside my house saw several rolls which knackered it all oh well, should have just kept in on a shelf I guess..? Naaah!!
No they definitely don't get it! Took me about two and half days all in... cutting out the stickers with a scalpel was hard work!
She won't be a shelf queen though, just waiting on a set of tyres so I can keep the originals neat, then she's hitting the golf course! Bunker jumps ahoy!

Heheh, what do women know eh? Glad I'm not a bird - blokes get all the fun toys - they get, what, shoes and handbags? Boring...She won't be a shelf queen though, just waiting on a set of tyres so I can keep the originals neat, then she's hitting the golf course! Bunker jumps ahoy!

I can imagine you sitting there, wielding a scalpel, the utmost concentration etched upon your face...someone charges into the room and starts asking you questions about shopping or some other dull crap - you shout 'Jesus, NOT NOW dammit - can't you SEE the delicacy and concentration I need for this? Gaaah!'
And golf course you say? Hmm, that's an interesting one - never thought of those, and I have 3 very close to me. Aren't they used like all day and evening, 7 days a week by, you know, golfers? Can't imagine those miserable gits taking kindly to whizzing electric motors and sand spraying everywhere???

You're not far wrong there! However, I bought it for myself as a reward for going through a rough patch of health so the GF was very understanding and let me spill nuts and bolts across the living floor with barely a raised eyebrow. She doesn't understand why I sit here just admiring the thing though!I can imagine you sitting there, wielding a scalpel, the utmost concentration etched upon your face...someone charges into the room and starts asking you questions about shopping or some other dull crap - you shout 'Jesus, NOT NOW dammit - can't you SEE the delicacy and concentration I need for this? You may have a point about the Golfers but Im determined to sneak onto my local course as the smooth transitions around the bunkers and super short grass look ideal!
p.s. Nice Hotshot Miniman

Awww, good story, right there dude. Building one of these is exciting, theraputic, and pure childhood nostalgic escape, isn't it? Glad to hear that building yours had an extra element of emotion in it for you mate.So anyway, when you DO raid your local golf course (you bad, irresponsible child you,) make sure you take some pics and post them up here, ok?!

2 of mine. Don't race anymore but really tempted to start again
looking at your name on the mi3 i think i may have raced against you many moons ago, did you ever do 1/12th nats circa 2002-2006?i was fairly competitive in 1/12th circuit, made a couple of national B finals, and did a bit of 2wd off road locally making the odd regional A final.
