Some I still own, some are sold.

That isn't even a quarter of what I've owned over the last few years.

Here is my Baja 23cc

Bought it about a month ago and have

Put shock covers
Air filter cover
New 26cc Zenoah head and piston
Walbro 668 carb
Windows to stop sand getting in at it

Its rapid now :-)

Also got a new Losi 26cc engine in the post yesterday :-)

It just fits in the boot of my Impreza Hatch STI lol

my old Team Associated RC10B4 at Batley in about 2006/2007. Running a Novak 3.5T brushless system and a fairly tight clutch made the slippy sections hard work and on the grippy bits it would wheelie at half throttle (note the missing sticker/paint on the edge of the wing which acted as a wheelie bar)



think the pics of my 1/12th circuit cars may be long gone frown

i was fairly competitive in 1/12th circuit, made a couple of national B finals, and did a bit of 2wd off road locally making the odd regional A final.
No mate never done a 12th race in fact that car has only been run 5 times i just used that at my local clubs just as a mess about really. I used to race touring cars, done a few different series over the years. Birds and bambino's stopped all that ;-(

I might get to the local clubs again over winter but i dont think its any good now, seems numbers have dropped off loads since i stopped going. If its rubbish i think i might try to go to Crewe give the 12th a bash.

i made the ultimate mistake over the weekend and went to one of my old tracks on a busy race day, ended up running race control and helping out in the pits.

Im now searching ebay for a HB D8T, so i can do a brushless conversion

A 3.5 at batley indoor, really?? That would have been totally overpowered for that surface and sized track

Massively overpowered, but my background was 1/12th circuit from back in the days of having to conserve battery life so I wasn't a throttle basher like a lot of the lads I raced with. Gentle throttle curve on the transmitter and smooth throttle application was fine, could be a little tricky on the slippy bits mind. I never did well at Batley, rarely did well in off road to be honest, managed a regional A final at Durham around the same time but that was about it!

Hi, I picked this up today and guess this would be the best place to get some info about it. It's a unfinished project and I'm not sure what to do with it.
I would like to get it working but I'm not sure how much work would be involved?

It has lots of servos already on it but no radio stuff or engine?



Can anybody shed any light on it.

Ps, it's feckin huge! hehe

Hope you have a sizable budget as that looks like it is designed for a minature turbine engine!

I feckin love this - 'I bought some massive hakf-finished toy, that I've no idea how to get working' biggrin

Well I've found out its a Falcon 120. It can be fitted out with electric, nitro or with modification jet!

If you havn't flown rc aircraft before you can practice using a proper controller with a PC program/sim.

If you think that asking here is the best place then you're obviously not already involved in the hobby!

1) I strongly recommend NOT attempting to fly that yourself. It is a very high performance model.
2) Join your local club
3) Join the BMFA - provides you with 3rd party insurance
4) Start with a high wing trainer and take things one step at a time - you should probably be at 'B' Certificate standard before attempting to fly models with the sort of performance that it has.

An RC simulator will not give you anywhere near enough competence to fly that safely.

If you're serious - do read up on the relevant parts of the Air Navigation Order that apply to models, (It's mostly covered in the BMFA Handbook which you can download from their website) so that you know what your legal responsibilities and obligations are! They are all technically classified as small aircraft. What you have there is not a 'park-flyer'!

Lovely looking model. Please don't take this the wrong way. I suggest hanging it from the ceiling for the next year at least.

Yep, thats a Falcon 120, by the look of it adapted for I.C.
I have one with a Wren 70 turbine (approx 7kg thrust) and it would be an very advanced level R/C aeroplane to a beginner .

Bumblebee gives some very good advice above, well worth heeding.

But from personal experience of flying a turbine powered Falcon, normal flight speed is about 150mph, approach about 50mph and landing around 30-40 mph.It uses a vast amount of sky and would become a small dot in no time!
Mine carries just over 1.5litres of Jet A-1 which lasts about 10 minutes. There are plenty of youtube videos of the Falcon flying, any of which should convince you that this is not the route to take as a beginner.
If you are local to the Grantham area the BMFA British National Championships are on this weekend and are well worth a visit.

Thanks for all the replys and advice guys it's really appreciated.
I don't think it is a Falcon 120 as I first thought, it is very similar but if you look at where the the tail fins attach to the main wings it goes right to the front of the wing, the Falcon only seems to go half way. So I'm stuck again.

As for it not being suitable for a first plane I wouldn't be fitting a crazy jet engine. I've been watching ones with just a nitro engine and they look a lot slower/more controllable. Would one of these be ok or still not advised.

Still not advised to fly it first. Although I'm on a modelling hiatus, I've flown r/c for 15 years now and I was the club instructor and examiner at my last club. The best advice is as above, get a high wing trainer, join the BMFA and go see some clubs in your area. Instruction is free and everyone will be friendly and helpful. Have a look at this page here for the list of clubs, simply put your county in and click the links.
