Was there not a pace car you could get that would learn your circuit, I seem to think there was.
There certainly was.

I have one a Mercedes, but still waiting to set my track up ... been collecting for that day for nearly 10 years.

Also have SportWorld, again unopened, which has intelligent pace cars.

Resisted ordering a platinum set , surely there will be a20 % offer soon. smile

Did order a hairpin and side swipe add on though , along with the straights and radius 2 track i got last week , nearly ready to start breaking this lot out into a layout with my old classic track.

It's £381 at the mo on the 15% deal. You won't get it cheaper from us anytime in the future. Amazon had it at £350 briefly about 18months ago, although at less than cost you won't find many people if anybody selling it off at that price.

Cheers.

Might be an idea to get some super-resistant cars for when your mates come round. That way you can just have fun with no worry about the cars getting bashed up too badly.
I would agree with this, it can get very frenetic out there and lots of little bits can be broken with little or no trouble. With the exception of one, my mates they are actually starting to get quite handy and aren't the animals they were the first few evenings when a couple of cars got destroyed. I still have a fair few wing mirrors and Audi front grills in a little plastic tub though – no point in sticking back on only to have them fall off again next time so just keeping safe for the time being.

One thing that seriously helped their learning curve was getting them to each buy a car; it is surprising how comparatively few “Full throttle along the whole straight, not lifting a millimetre for the hairpin” accidents happen anymore wink . If you have a look around there are cars you can buy for little more than £20 (just lend them the chip for the evening unless they have their own) and if they are getting serious about it then they can spend what they like. I put a ban on LMP and F1 cars and things seem fairly well matched for most of the rest of the range. I have bought 4 LMP’s of my own and if they behave themselves will bring them out next time – accidents happen and I don’t get stressed if things get bashed or broken in the course of having some fun, only when it is a deliberate “ let’s see how big an accident I can create!” and as said I think we have passed that stage now that most have a real chance of keeping up.

Russy01 has been a star with his PH pricing and for the first time I have a surfeit of chips over cars, now I just need to chill before this season’s new cars start to properly roll out. I was very disappointed with the RS200 I bought last year pace wise so am trying to buy a few similar paced cars to have a matched grid, I certainly have my eyes on the Stig set and when they bring out the Quatros will make my mind up if I got 2+2+2 with those, 6R4’s and RS200’s or have a full grid of RS200’s. I haven’t had the chance to try out the 6R4 I have yet and also need to assess the pair of 308’s that I have.

Next race evening is the 11th so will be getting most of the cars out for that save the old stagers that have yet to be chipped, another thing I might have a word with Russ about as I don’t really have time and was about 16 the last time I soldered anything so might see what can be done with the aid of a few pennies and the post office!

My scalextric has just grown. Spotted ads on a local sight for the digital world champion set up (track with two digi change points, 4 car base, lap counter, 4 controllers and 4 digi f1 cars) and two other ads for two digi ready Porsches. All for £70. Will sell the power base and counter and buy the 6 car power base. Obv all to the missus annoyance as I now have enough track for a 45ft set up lol

Looking good!

Had to cancell the night on the 11th as although i had set the track up and got everything ready i caught a nasty lurgy and didn't want to spread the love.

looks like we are on for another go on the 25th but might not have time to do a big track. will post up once done.

After planning to sort the garage and set a layout up next weekend since December I've decided its time to call it a day, so if anyone wants a big digital layout (most of the cars I have are being stashed in my loft) drop me a PM.

Non Scalextric cars might not work – I have not tried this yet as I am focusing on new DPR cars but I have seen suggestions that SCX, Nico and Fly cars might not work, even once you have fitted a Digital chip (I would love to know if anyone knows the true position before I have to find out by trial and error!).
Despite some serious competition, my SCX Ford Escort MkIIs were the racer's favourite on my analogue track. They are now digital and we run up to 4 at once, no magnets, low power, maximum oversteer.

Cool. I had a go with my 308's the other day and the difference was night and day in terms of handling - one very lairy old skool and one bolted on rails - checked underneath and low I found one seemed to be missing its magnet, might just remove the other one now!

I've recently moved into a new house, which currenly has an empty room, so I've used some friends coming to stay with their little lad in a few weeks as an excuse to get my Scalextric set from my parents place and set it up.

I got a nice surprise when I went in the loft and found a DTM set that I'd forgotten about, to go with my Mighty Metros set, neither had any cars, but after a bit more hunting I found some, including a Megane rally car that I'd forgotten I had, but I remembered having a poster of on my bedroom wall.

I'm hoping to get it set up over the next week or so, so will upload photos.

Pictures of the cars i am using at the moment. Most bought in the last 18 months

This is the layout which we were going to use but the lurgy meant the evening was cancelled

And finally the layout we ended up using.

I like the rallycross set, I've bought two and a few other limited edition sets over the last few months. Despite wanting to move the track on I plan to keep buying cars.

Nice set of the Rally X I saw that in a shop a while ago.

Remember watching Grandstand years ago when Will Gollop drove a presenter round Brands for a lap ( might of been Steve Ryder ) pooped his pants lol

Sorry for the shoddy camera work, it is only a compact.
