And to continue the McLaren F1 addiction I've also won this chrome Maisto model for very little money as it was missing its original box. Apparently limited edition with a wooden plinth. Anyone know much about it?

Will be interesting so see how it compares in quality to the UT models.
Don't get your hopes up to high. Maisto aren't fantastic but maybe they do different levels like Hotwheels do with their Elite stuff.

Maisto are cheap for a reason. The basic form is just about acceptable, everything else is poor and probably best avoided IMO.

It actually wasn't that bad. Certainly not a patch on the equivalent ut model. I do think when polished up properly it'll look pretty decent on the shelf. Will get some pics up at some point.

Some maisto models are very reasonable though, for example the BMW v12 LMR.

Posted these in the "show us your models" thread, but since they are 1:18 models I thought I would post the pics in here too:

Just like mrdemon on page 3 of this thread, I only collect road Ferraris - must be red. All (bar two) in clear perspex cases

Up to fifty now, with half a dozen still on my list...

yes

Any particular manufacturer (I know Hot Wheels Elite do a lot of Ferrari models)?

Which models would you say are the highlights of your collection?

Yes, there's a fair few Mattel models in there, simply because they are easier to get hold of.

The latest list (needs updating though - not edited it for a couple of years - pretty sure I have a 250SWB now)

UT
355 GTB
355 GTS
355 Spider

Mattel
612 Scaglietti
F430
F430 Spider
Enzo Ferrari
Enzo FXX
360 Spider
360 Challenge Stradale
550 Maranello
550 Barchetta
575 Maranello
575 SuperAmerica
599 GTB
Testarossa (1984)
365 GTB/4
365 GTS/4
250 GTO
250 GTB Lusso
250 California
GTO (1984)
512M
166 MM Barchetta
246GTS
FF
Mondial 8

Burago
348 TB
348 TS
250LM
F40
F50
F50 Hardtop
456 GT
360 Modena
250 Testarossa 1957

Anson
328 GTS
246 GT Dino

Chrono
512BB

Kyosho
365/4 BB
308 GTB
328 GTB

ERTL
275 GTB/4

Revell
Pininfarina Mythos

Mira
512TR
348 Spider (roof down)
348 Spider (roof up)

Jouef Evolution
250 GTO 1964
250 GTO SWB

Universal Hobbies
GTO Evolozione

All of them have boxes, all in my loft - mostly in mint condition, with the odd scruffy example. I guess the most valuable / rarest is the UT 355GTS, which I started my collection with, when I was lucky enough to own a 1:1 scale version for a couple of years

^Very comprehensive!

A couple of new additions for my collection:

Fina McLaren F1 GTR Longtail (pictured with the Fina GTR I bought last year).

The other 'new' Longtail (again with the other Fina model)

Another V12 LMR (already have #15 by Maisto which won Le Mans), this one won the Sebring 12hrs in 1999

Here are mine down from the loft today. Just some Autoart jgtc cars. Below are my 1:12 models. Oh! The F1 is a signed Alesi ! Theres a lot of empty shelf so i'm on the look out for some more. I'm mainly into Senna items and Japanese sports / race cars.

Let me know what you think.

Mark is that a Minichamps 1/12 McLaren F1? How do you rate it. Seen a couple go on ebay for around £150 and wonder whether they are worth it.

Here's something from the girlfriend as an early Christmas prezzie!

Wow! that's a really good present. I'll more than likely get socks!

That's the Pauls model art ( minichamps ) 1:12 scale McLaren F1 road car in dark silver metallic. The paperwork states its one of two hundred produced.

Its a really solid good looking model with a lot of detail as should be expected. The only issue I've heard is the door hinges are quite weak due to being plastic and the rear glass sometimes falls out. Mine has a wonky rear number plate which is annoying. I don't want to fix it as I could do further damage. It was like it from new, I asked if I could return it and swap for another model, but grandprix legends had sold out.

If you would like some better photos i'm happy to email them to you. It could help you decide if you want one or not.

Mine is pretty good. It has a couple of marks on the screen where the wiper has moved across the surface during transit but the quality of the build, materials and detail is very good. Given that Autoart, Kyosho, Hot Wheels Elite prices have spiralled, I would say a mint in box example is a snip at £150. I've seen minters go for £250+

PS. Your g/f is a keeper if that's standard of gifts she buys!

Some great collections in this thread, wish I had seen it earlier! Here's a few of my favourite 1/18 models. I have an almost full collection of Jacques Villeneuve 1/18 models, which are now stored in the loft since the Mrs moved in!

Needs no introduction!

I got this one as it is the closest colour I could find to my 67 Mustang

As a massive Riccardo Patrese fan, here's the Minichamps Brabham BMW BT52 from 1983. I love this model! The BT52 has got to be one of the best looking F1 cars ever.

Here's the Minichamps 1993 Benetton Ford B193 he finished his F1 career with. Very rare I've been told?

I have just ordered the 1/18 Minichamps Patrese 1991 Williams Renault. As it comes minus Camel decals, I have ordered a set and I will post some pics when it arrives.
