You sir, are far too kind ! smile

I will admit that, these are all the better ones (bar the odd one or two). I've LOADS AND LOADS of Bburago ones from when I was a schoolboy and was saving my pocket money to buy the next one !

I started with the Bburago and Maisto models. They were reasonable at the time £10-12, used to buy them randomly from Tesco or a small toy shop in St Albans. My very first model was a Maisto 850i.

Some of the most recent Bburago models are actually pretty decently detailed, such as this Morgan Aero 8

I never would have dreamed that I'd be spending near on £100 per model in the future. I do have a mental block at £100, I find it very hard to spend more than that on an individual model.

My most expensive to purchase model is probably the dealer edition McLaren F1

About £90 iirc.

My most valued model (was a prezzie), is the Lichtenstein 320i Art car

Typically goes for £200-300.

Have you ever totalled up the amount you have spent? I did last month. I almost fell off my chair!

I know what you mean about the mental block at £100. I'm in the same position although that barrier is gradually being pushed upwards. The recent purchases of the Ghostbusters Ecto 1a and A-Team van were £130 ish each. Anything half decent by the likes of Autoart now are best part of £100+.
The one that i REALLY regret not buying at the time was the Mad Max Interceptor. At the time the original purchase price had exceed my self imposed £100 limit, just. You just try getting one now for under £200 - you'll be really hard pushed to do so.
I'm trying to think what the most is I've spent, it is probably around that which I've mentioned - maybe a few ££ more. Most valuable? That's a tough one. I've just had a flick through all the photo's i have and honestly, nothing jumps out as `most valuable`. So, maybe on that note I'd have to pick the one which started my collection I guess. smile

My first model was this one, which started off in red. After years of abuse of being used as a toy it was replaced with a shiny fresh one, then given a lick of paint, some 348 wheels and a registration mark that a local Testarossa wore :

I've never totalled it all up but some quick maths would suggest that if we assume the following we probably wouldn't be that far off :
35 models at circa £25 each = 875 (Bburago \ Maisto etc)
40 models at circa £50 each = 2000 (Sunstar \ Spark etc)
60 models at circa £100 each = 6000 (Autoart \ Minichamps \ Hotwheels etc)

Total = 8875 ! yikesyikesyikesyikes

I've not got such a large collection as yourself, but the mrs often sighs when she sees the price of a new addition.

my reply is usually - "you buy clothes, make-up, shoes and other st every week/month!" I buy one of these every few months. I think were even" wink

Does anyone know the best thing for removing transfers ?? I think they are either laser printed or screen printed on from factory . I got one side off with thinners but the other side left a mark probably due to thinners being too strong . Any help appreciated , cheers

I'm really impressed with the Sunstar and Solido cars I've bought too.

Not sure why AutoArt are commanding such prices these days tbh when other cheaper cars are getting to within the same level of detail and quality.
it may just be my preference too, but I couldn't give a monkeys if the interior has proper carpet and seat belts. I'm not small enough to fit inside! rofl
And I prefer to be able to open the Boot/bonnet and see the bits. I hate the sealed shells they currently release.

as long as it looks good on display from the outside it'll do me. smile

Because?

I've never had any issues with it. Soak a cotton bud in it and wipe away.

I had these 2 on pre-order...and they arrived within a week of each other, which made for an expensive month frown

Both Turbin Grey, both Autoart.

Monaro CV8R - one from 1008 (no idea why they chose to make 1008).

HSV Y Series Senator Signature - one from 500

Normal nail polish remover is cellulose based. Some car model paints are also cellulose based - will take the paint/lacquer off if you are heavy handed. Can also damage some plastics.
