He could drop one on eBay, one on Bricklink, one on Amazon marketplace... but any more at a time and it'll be a problem.

It's often tempting to buy extra kits to sell on, but I just don't see an easy way out.

I'd be hard pressed not to open the "investment" ones if I needed some bits for something I was making - or I'd end up selling it for what I paid for it to a friend (or giving it away as a present.....)

Lego is for playing/inverting with, not to be stuffed in people's lofts for later profit. Storing for future generations/a rainy day/retirement is just about ok though smile

Meh,

I toyed with the idea of investment duplicates and then though stuff it, i can sell the ones I build for cost +/- 10% anyway so why take up the storage space?

I hate Ebay with a passion anyway.

I don't agree with hoarding the kits but he is buying them on the open market, it's not like he's done a deal with Lego and restricted sales.

He is paying a premium for them, most of the kits have cost him £300+ its not like he has gone to the lego shop and got them for £140 a unit and then doubled his money selling them on, there is a certain risk involved balanced by the reward of any premium he makes. Until they are way north of £400 a kit he will make next to nothing flogging them on fleebay once they get their 15%

Must say I have to agree given that I am quietly involved in having at least a finger in a good chunk of a certain product that I believe is only going one way price wise. Just a shame the loft is a bit too cramped to store there wink

I wouldnt be so selfish as him. No problem with people buying 2 or 3 but 6% of the entire production run?

Taking the piss & deprives the genuine collector/builder of the chance to own one unless they pay silly money.

Purely a personal opinion.

I know what you say. But tell me you wouldn't like to have 5 964RS's in you garage, bought 6 years ago for £30k-£35k a pop?

I reckon we should all get together and go for the guinness world record for the most Lego crawlers raced together. There could be a std class 'out of the box' where driver skill is the order of the day and a modified class for those that like to 'pimp their ride' so to speak

No. I would be happy with one - after all you can only drive one at a time!

How many can you actually run at any one time with the IR receivers?

EDIT: 4 apparently, maybe 8 if the channels are different on the v1 and v2.

Worlds worst investment...

Prices will be up at the moment due to a must have demand and up again at Christmas, but after that...

Will become more obscure and last years must have, Lego might even do one of these every year.

I've got one spare purchased at retail I'll probably sell it this year hoping for 400+

you could shift a few for a profit but hundreds no way

yes would be my thought. WOuldn't want to be sitting on lots of them, just a few.

People look at the Star Wars stuff and the prices those command but forget that you are not only selling to a Lego market but to all those people who dress up as a Storm Trooper and pretend that they related to Ewoks and the like...

First dibs if you decide to sell? A few BNIBs have gone in the low 2's.
