Simpsons House is very, very cool when built up...

See on faceache they've just announced Mclaren, Ferrari and Porsche cars for 2015. Seem to be a similar size to the Shell ones.
'Father Christmas came early' - well, that was my pitiful excuse when these turned up. Alas, I was out so wife took delivery. I have some explaining to do.... eek

The 'but look - I got a free set' (bottom of the trio) didn't quite cut it hehe

I do fancy The Tumbler but not the price tag. Will watch Ebay for a while and see if the prices come down now that its back in stock on Lego.com

I've been lucky. The two sets I've really, really wanted (Unimog and Simpsons House) were both bought for me by my better half.

Think the Simpsons House was influenced by learning that even once built we could make a small profit on the Unimog.

She now knows to ask if there are any 'halo' models out I'd really like (which for this Christmas is the technic crane).

Really like the look of the Tumbler and Ecto-1 as well - if only the plans for the Ghostbuster's fire station were online...

I wouldn't hold your breath. I've only managed to find it on the lego site and heave heard that sets had been taken from shelves to shore up demand. Hate to say it, but whilst I'd love to build it, it may end up being an 'investment' model.

Just wish I'd bought half a dozen 'Hogwarts' a few years back!

This is a genuine question and isn't a criticism in any way, but does anyone actually scratch build any more? After reading through these pages I'm getting the impression that people buy a kit, make the model from the instructions, and then presumably display it. Is that the case?

For me, growing up, models got made from the kit, stayed standard very briefly, and then immediately started going though a metamorphosis of modification and improvement until unrecognisable, or else the choice parts nicked for another project and the rest of the parts put into the Lego box.

The 'mech that I posted earlier is a good example of this. Although, now I come to think of it, that one might have been entirely scratch-built.

A mix for me...

The models I get for the kids (friends, city and basic technic) get built as per instructions, then cobbled together in all sorts of unusual ways.

The big sets for me though get built as per instructions then displayed. The fun in them is the quality of the model design as so I can't improve upon it!

The correct response was that you got this cute little set for her.

Once she has built it and become hooked, then you can start on the winter sets.

Trouble is, she spends half her time clearing up after my two young sons. Converting her to building would be an impossible task I'd say smile

She might join them doing it if she started to enjoy it.

I forgot to add, remember to save some money for Black Friday weekend so you can get the 2nd free Christmas set.

Expect alot of the larger adult aimed and popular sets to potentially be out of stock in store at that time though.

It's rumoured that the Slave 1 will be on display as well as the new Detective Agency Modular building at the pre BF VIP event. Not sure they would send one to each store though, so maybe just in a London store perhaps.

How long does the VIP application take? I need to order a Tumbler and the application has been pending for a few days now

Yep I build from instructions then take it all apart and make stuff up and when my son's old enough to join in I'll be building all sorts. At the moment at 5 months old he sits on my lap and just swishes his hand through the box until he finds a big bit

Not sure, if you do it instore then its working straight away, you just need to confirm your email address before you can spend the points iirc.

Nana, nana, nana, nana, TUMBLER!

Have to admit, the final product isn't all that;

Wish I'd spent the cash on something else : (

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/?showtopic=92672 download the plans and open it in lego digital designer you can then create the plans to build it. I attempted to price it up before and got to about £300.

Mine took a few days - I sent them a message because I was wondering how quickly it would be set up, so not sure whether I might have accelerated the process.
