This is a genuine question and isn't a criticism in any way, but does anyone actually scratch build any more? After reading through these pages I'm getting the impression that people buy a kit, make the model from the instructions, and then presumably display it. Is that the case?

For me, growing up, models got made from the kit, stayed standard very briefly, and then immediately started going though a metamorphosis of modification and improvement until unrecognisable, or else the choice parts nicked for another project and the rest of the parts put into the Lego box.

The 'mech that I posted earlier is a good example of this. Although, now I come to think of it, that one might have been entirely scratch-built.

No, I made the mistake of looking at MOCs on Eurobricks and then fell into a depression over how awesome they all look and now I have no desire to build my own cruddy examples.

THX: what are those things on your feet? Hideous!

Haha. Five Finger Vibrams; for 'barefoot' running. Pays to use them, or go proper barefoot, as often as possible to put a little strength in your feet.

See on faceache they've just announced Mclaren, Ferrari and Porsche cars for 2015. Seem to be a similar size to the Shell ones.
Spotted that through a flickr contact- a little bigger than the Shell models I think. Built my Shell sets today wink and they remain 4-studs wide with slight wheel protrusions. The teased Speed Champions look more like 6+ studs wide.

Bodes well.

La Ferrari

McLaren P1

Porsche 918

Might just have to buy one or three to park outside my Parisian Restaurant.

Big Bang Theory is not in my interests personally, but a link for those who are:
https://ideas.lego.com/projects/58456

Any guesses on the price? I'm going £54.99.

I have never seen the Big Bang Theory so that does not interest me. That's the problem with TV related tie-ins, it only really interests those who watch the programme.

Surprised they have not agreed to make any Dr Who sets yet, but I assume there are royalty issues with the BBC

It doesn't look all that exciting a set - looks like a model of the studio in which they film the interior scenes. Hardly iconic.

It may be a pile of st to you, but it does have a massive following. Loads of Big Bang fans will want it, so it's almost a given that it'll sell well.

In case it's of interest, my local Tesco has this Architecture book for £11.50. Looks really good, I just don't have the space right now.
