22,694 pieces. 217cm.

The designer has updated it himself and done a significantly reduced design, 6,700 pieces. If that made it to production it would surely be a £500 set.

And yet would still likely sell.

There's a clip of the front of the helicarrier in one of the letters of the latest design video.

No problem, fella, I was planning to do something like that anyway. Sadly though, the missus bought it as my Christmas present so we all have to wait a few weeks.

It's sat on the floor in my lego construction room, taunting me every day when I go in to open my lego advent calendars.
You have greater will power than I would have, though I guess the lego calendars are holding off the urge a little bit. smile

Really looking forward to your thread about the build and seeing some pictures as it progress, I imagine it's going to be a 20+ hour build time at least! biggrin

Jealous? Me?.........Very!

I was in the lego store in westfield today.

My wallet was twitching and they had a tumbler and a sand crawler (and that x-wing) and loads of other cools stuff.
It's too close to xmas and I'd have had to take it home on the tube.

An (un)lucky escape.

It's being suggested that it'll be out in March 2015 and is set no 76042...

If so, i'm going to need a bigger table to build on!!

Incidentally, was watching a couple of SSD's on Ebay and they went for between £415 - 430. Seems the investors are in pocket already...

Down to £80 on amazon (from £120). However, not due in stock until 13/12 but that is a good price if you are happy to wait.

Yes, no surprise with the SSD's. Even the recently retired Back to the Future one is hitting £50 on eBay, retailed at £35.

How did you wangle the 20%? Looks like I've missed the boat on that promotion, if it was some sort of Argos deal.

I nearly picked one up the other weekend in the Lego VIP offer weekend - 15% off and then a further discount for something or other. I didn't in the end, but I've been kicking myself since.

What's the concensus among those more knowledgeable than me on "collectible" kits on whether this one is likely to appreciate over time? From the little bit of reading I've done, it seems a bit hit and miss as to what sky-rockets, like the UCS Falcon, and what doesn't really go up much at all.

Not sure I'd have the willpower to leave it boxed and sealed anyway, TBH, even if I could somehow smuggle the cost past the Domestic FD! biggrin

I just happened to check the argos website and saw the one I wanted had the discount, reserved it online and collected it from my local store later that day smile

I was given the Maersk EEE its my first bit of lego for years and year - fairly repetitive build but results in a fairly nice model at the end.

All you need now is a Lego RIB and some Lego minifigure Somalian pirates.

Very nice. I remember watching the creator video the designer did of that set, seems really fun.

Let us know how you find it, nothing is really appealing to me at the moment (want another big 'theme' set like the Simpsons House or a Technic set that's as involving as the Unimog).

did enjoy the build of this & glow in dark pieces just add a little extra , shame maybe couldn't of maybe sorted some sort of old school connector pieces to have some flashing lights as they did in light & sound fire & police trucks.

Ive now brought ferris wheel to add to it , wonder if more will follow , dodgems ?

GF liked building simpsons house took her about 6 - 7 hours

Wahay, looks like the predicted ship date of the Tumbler of 22nd December was pessimistic, as it shipped yesterday.

Thats my christmas day sorted.

That fairground model looks great....I think I will but it for my son and keep it. Christmas is already sorted.

What is the deal with Lego and prices ? Things like that Fairground model and the Deathstar are much cheaper than they are on Amazon for example.
