Non Technic LEGO
Discussion
Half of the cockpit done. I found, or rather didn't find my first and second missing parts while building this section. I found one of them in a small Lord of the Rings set whichI only bought for Gollum so the actual model was surplus to requirements in my spare parts bin. Sadly, I had to rob Batman's Tumbler for the other part. I do hope there aren't any more missing parts.

What were the bits you were missing?
It seems that as the number of parts are reducing the missing parts are making themselves known, i've just had to rob Tower Bridge of another one, oh the joys of buying used lego :-(So far i'm missing three:
Black Flat Tile 1x4
Dark Grey Brick 2x2
Light Grey Brick 1x8
Completed the Mini Cooper build today, very enjoyable build, the details really are superb and the overall look is excellent considering only the arches are non-standard parts. 99% sure that I was missing 4 2x1 dark green bricks, which is very, very unusual. Went back through every step and can't see how I could possibly have accidentally used them, and had no noteable spares at the end that I might have got muddled with. Thankfully the last few required are not visible, so raided my parts bin for some black ones.

Still not up there with the 21108 Ecto-1 for build enjoyment (best thing I've built in years) but not far off.

Seems a bit of a pisstake at the price point.
Yep, I'm none too impressed, especially as I specifically asked if it was complete before buying. But, in the grand scheme of things (assuming it stays this way) it is only 3 parts out of 5100+, so it could have been worse. It could just have been a mistake, he seemed like an honest guy and seemed genuinely disappointed to be getting rid of it. Or I could just be gullible.Bipolar Kittens said:

Most bits will be easy/cheap to replace from Bricklink. However there are a few extremely rare and expensive parts. The printed pattern radar dish is critical, next the two light gray ladder things over the engines and also the small gray levers of which there are many around the rear upper surface. So far i'm missing three:

I've got the radar dish, the ladder things and there're quite a few small grey levers left and i've used many already.http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&color...

Suckered you into the dark side!
I made you proud today. After much deliberation I went and bought the 10240 X-Wing. Bipolar Kittens posts pushed me over the edge
I just bought 75024, the Droid Gunship, from Sainsburys.
Nothing odd about that.
However the box had been opened so I assume that some pieces, probably the mini figures, have been removed from the box.
It was on the shelf for £39.99.
I paid just £7.51........
Checked what is missing. The whole of bag 5!!!!!
Still for what I paid for it I cannot complain.
Guess I will have to compose a crawly email to Lego when asking if they will supply me with a whole bag of Lego!

Happy New Year!
With the celebrations out of the way, I hope to have this finished tomorrow.
I have a few light grey parts like in the picture below that have discoloured and have a kind of yellowish tint. Does anyone with experience in the matter know if washing them will work or is replacement to the only solution here?

Re: lego discolouration. There are recipes on the net. I have used 12% hydrogen peroxide and a scoop of oxyclean mixed, and then left in a jar in sunlight for 8 hours
This has given me some success, but not totally white. I did it because I had at least a kilo of white bricks to do.
If you only have a few bricks to do then buy them new from Bricklink, as the hydrogen peroxide will cost you around £15
Great build log. Thanks for sharing
