Build them guys! That's what they're designed for! I really enjoyed the build of mine, it has some really clever little features from the films and I thought it was really good fun to build. It doesn't look as great as the more "model-like" sets, but to build and see the features I think it was great. smile

Well gents, this is the roof, the final piece(s).

All that's left to do now is put all the limbs together and it's the part i've been looking forward to the least. After the shear frustration, swearing, cursing and uncontrollable sobbing (while rocking back and forth) that it's taken to get all these parts to go together and stay together, i'm scared to touch them let alone manhandle them.

So, the next update will either be the completed model or a pile of bricks on the floor, depending on how it goes. I'm not sure when that'll be, I fear attempting it tonight may lead to a nervous breakdown and I have the UCS Tie Fighter and the Lego Ideas Birds sat in the corner waiting patiently, so watch this space...

In the mean time, I have built a rudimentary handle to lift the body without the need for a glamorous assistant.

I'm pretty sure someone mentioned the best way to put it together in the thread i listed. They are known to be fragile though, even when fully assembled.

Just finished my Detective Agency after starting it ages ago.

Well, i'm sorry to say it's game over for now folks.

I attached the neck without a problem, then when attaching the head it just couldn't take the weight and the internal structure gave way :-(

I've obviously done something fundamentally wrong somewhere but it'll mean dismantling and building the frame from scratch which just isn't happening right now.

For what it's worth I compared mine with the thread BlueMR2 posted and I just can't see any difference but I've obviously done something wrong.

This isn't the end, I've spent too much time and money on it to give up but i"m having a long break before I revisit it again.

Lol, it's a big job to strip the body and rebuild it, especially knowing that doing so might not make the slightest difference. I just can't face it right now.

Anyway, when I say a long break, I'm not talking months, it'll only be a couple of weeks.

Or, send the lot to me and I'll rebuild it.

I promise to send it back. One day.

Maybe.

If I remember.

What's the concensus on the Tower Bridge kit? Thinking of buying my wife something Lego-related for her birthday and it seems to change hands on ebay for quite a bit less than it goes for new.

I know I've seen it mentioned on here in the past but a quick search didn't throw up the posts....

This might help putting the At-At together if you haven't read it before.

Yep, read it, it's helped on a few issues I had but unfortunately not this particular one. Everything fits together just fine but the internal skeleton just won't take the weight of the head. I've compared his pics with my model and can't see any difference.

I'm going to rebuild the internal skeleton and pray I just missed something important the first time. Failing that I'll have to contact the designer and hope he replies.

BPK I know it's cheating, but would you consider solvent cement on the internal structure?

My birthday present arrived today.
Modular Pet Shop to go with my Parisian Restaurant.
Will post photos when completed.
My UCS R2D2 is having to go to my office desk to make room for the new arrival. SWMBO says there is no more room in the house for Lego.
