I see that they have released a new version of the Sith Infiltrator (Darth Mauls ship) as a kit. also the imperial frigate from the new rebels cartoon.

One of these will be a purchase next month

I think they use super glue for Legoland type sculptures. You'll struggle to ever get it apart, but it shouldn't melt the plastic, and nail varnish remover should be a solvent for the dried superglue. Test on some old bricks!

I'd avoid plastic solvent weld glue as it melts the plastic, so could end up distorting things and any drips will ruin anything they touch.

If you want it to be dismantleable I'd look into something like PVA or Copydex that will be easy to peel off.

If I understand correctly, super glue melts plastic, so what tyoe of glue should I be using?

In this instance I think Krazy Glue (Kragle!!) would be appropriate but I don't know if it'll damage the bricks.

2 part (double bubble) epoxy will work. That said I have glued lego together before without a problem. Try it on a couple of spare bits first, its all made of the same stuff.

Glueing LEGO must take an age trying to keep it clean whilst building.

Just finished the Slave 1 tonight, that and the Arocs as well as the Kwik E Mart and Tie Fighter in the last few weeks, almost out of space now. Some great large models available at the moment.

I like the look of Slave I, for some reason I think it would be a better value addition compared to the TIE or X-Wing, it looks bulkier, therefore more parts, therefore longer build time? I've ignored the TIE and X-WIng, because from what I can see, they could both be build in less than 5 hours, it's a lot of money for 5 hours of build IMO.
Thoughts?

Slave 1 is a great build, and as its all asymetrical its not make X12 for a lot of it.

Makes a nice model display with the stand it comes with.

I like the tie fighter but slave 1 seems like more for the same money.

I offered to help ages ago in this thread. You need to go onto some of the build sites for the AT-AT there is loads of help. You need this stuff if you are going to glue lego.

Cheers Rick, that was my thinking too. How long did it take you to build Slave I do you think?

The Tie fighter build is basically a small build, cricket ball size with Frankenstein esque bolts out the side, then 4 identical wing parts (1 as upper, 1 as lower per wing) then 2 middle sections and 2 external decorations/braces 1 per wing, you actually have the wings built with different bag numbers 2 halves per number but only in the instructions 1 time, so the book is pretty thin. Makes the Arocs manual look like a set of encyclopedias.

It does look good once built but it is alot of money at retail, only 1 boring figure is extremely stingy, the Slave 1 has 4 figures and a carbonite Han for the same retail.

If you want build time for your money, out of the 4 sets i mentioned before, the Arocs takes alot longer to build, it is 2.8k parts as well as pneumatics, hoses etc.

The Kwik E Mart is a nice model with lots of detail as well.

Thanks BlueMR2, I have the crane 42009, and although I enjoyed building it, I prefer the technic cars (eg, F1 and 24hr). I reckon Slave I will be next on the list for me.

Loving the pictures for the lego show above too, those models are very clever! smile

It took about 2 full days as i built it while watching Le Mans with breaks.

Good build and a nice thing to own.

Tempted by the new Rebels cartoon Imperial Frigate or newly tooled Sith Infiltrator next, both about £85-£99

They have started to use technic in alot of larger models now, the sand crawler has a fair bit as well.

I liked the 1:8 scale Ferrari F1 car i have, not built the newer ones though.

Some of those models are looking good, a number of non LEGO bits though eek.

Anyone coming along to Bricktastic this weekend?

The post right above yours Cliffie, BlueMR2's going. smile

I have the sandcrawler and really enjoyed building that, I currently have the AT-AT waiting for me at home, will start that this weekend.

I'm looking forward to finding out what the next BIG Star Wars set is, after the SSD, Death Star and SandCrawler, The Death Star must be going out of production soon which leaves a gap, with only the SandCrawler as the BIG (2500pcs+) Star Wars set in production. I'm hoping it'll be something from Epsiode VII, maybe a re-booted Millenium Falcon the size of the old UCS one.

One of the leaked Ep VII kits is new version of the Falcon, on the same scale as the most recent 7965 version (so around 1,250 pieces) - I'm not sure that there are likely to be two different versions of the Falcon available at the same time....

Could be though - the UCS Falcon has certainly taken on a certain cachet since it went out of production so the demand may well be there!

They are doing another £130 Falcon and they are making more death stars for the US market at the moment i believe.

The next UCS model is some sort of Hoth Battle iirc.

It should be good, i'll be helping out up front somewhere I believe.

There will be plenty of inspiring models there for young builders. Probably plenty of stuff for sale as well.

I ha 7965, so probably won't get another Falcon of the same scale. I expect a UCS Falcon will definitely have demand too, it's become almost legendary as a Lego Set, due to size, but also rarity I guess, so a new re-boot may impact that somewhat.
