Yes to be honest LEGO have been fairly quiet on an RRP for the WALL E. But going by the cost it has to be £49.99! If the RRP is £39.99, then I wouldn't be able to make any money at that price OR Smyths are getting it much cheaper than me!

Either way on a set like this (Ideas, CUUSOO etc), RRP is often irrelevant as high demand and low stock availability often dictates selling well above RRP.

I am starting to think that Lego are in danger of disappearing up their own arses.

£50 for the Walle set is a joke. I thought the Ecto 1 was expensive but ok, this is just a step too far

Whilst I don't disagree that £50 is too much and Lego are clearly making a very healthy margin on the Wall-E set, I know from experience that Disney licenses are eye wateringly expensive, so that will be factored in on top of Lego's normal profit margin.

677 according to the brickset review.

Amazon have it for sale at £39.99 but temporarily unavailable, probably get more stock/send it out nearer release date.

677 pieces - £39.99: seems decent value.
677- £49.99: isn't exactly drastically overpriced given that it's a Lego Ideas set.

The pound is very strong at the moment which is probably half the problem. Lego so much cheaper in Holland right now for example.

That's the opposite of what should be happening?

Strong pound means less GBP needed for a fixed price import, so cost in GBP should be lower than elsewhere.

If EUR priced sets are cheaper than the UK, then that's direct profiteering from Lego - charging more in places that can afford to pay more...

Lots of debate about the RRP of this set. I was told it was £49.99, at that RRP I can make money. At £39.99 its hardly worth our time...

I honestly dont know...plus either way on sets like this RRP often goes out the window as high demand and short supply drives the prices up...

Feel free to buy it from me at my current deal price, but like anything it will end up cheaper on Amazon or something after a while....cheers.

I've ordered 2 from Russy. The group buy price seems good to me, but if I'm going to over pay I'd rather do it to a ph'er. The group buys have saved me a fair bit so overall I'm still up.

I think Russy (and especially his group buy price) is extremely competitive and about as cheap as you will find outside of weird deals and have happily bought from him in the past using my uk-based funds.

If I was paid in pounds the would b no question where my lego funds would go smile it's just that currently, for the few of us outside the uk, local is cheaper. That's not Russ' fault smile

I am as surprised as anyone hat things are cheaper on the mainland. It's usually the other way around.

Apologies to Russ, I wasnt criticising your price more the overall lack of value that I think this set offers. I don't think it's any better value at £40 really. 650 pieces and I bet most of them are tiny 1x1 tiles. It's a £20 tops model IMO.

It's 677 pieces; at £49.99 that makes it 7.4p/piece, which puts it in the same ballpark as various Creator sets and other non-licensed themes: http://brickset.com/sets/query-18/page-4

At £39.99 it would be 5.9p/piece, which puts it around 25th best value of any set in the UK: http://brickset.com/sets/query-18/page-2 - that's why I thought £39.99 seemed unlikely. It's not bad value at £49.99, and at that price would be the second best value of all the Ideas/Cuusoo sets released so far; beaten by Birds which definitely has more tiny bricks. And I don't think Wall-E can be accused of having loads of tiny bricks anyway; have a look at the sorted pieces in this review: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopi...

No offence taken pal, don't worry.

I still am not sure what the RRP is, checked through my paperwork and when I ordered them I didn't even get a cost - just a, "how many of these would you want if I can get them for you!" From my account manager.

There are some people selling cheap, but knowing who they are they probs only have a few cartons so are just getting rid. Amazon are £39.99 - but they often sell cheaper than we even buy for (they're just interested in market share) so I often ignore their prices - plus they haven't got any I stock anyway!

Ah, the old 'cheapest price on the internet' so top Google search rankings only to find there's no stock trick wink

I've ordered two from you Russ. Whilst pretty much everything I've bought from you (which is a lot wink ) could have been sourced cheaper (though perhaps not by much), I'd rather support a smaller retailer and fellow PHer.

Besides, you have an extra mouth to feed now wink

Order placed - cheers for sorting out the deal, Russ.

I agree about putting the business the way of a PH-er rather than further line the pockets of the like of Amazon smile
