I got one for my son as well. Quite a good build but the neck is seriously loose. I believe there's a fix available from Lego which fixes it. Might be worth getting in touch.
Check your instructions to be sure which version you have, the original instruction book is part number 6146259, revised instruction book is part number 6162870.I recently bought from Tesco and got the new version. If you have the old one you should phone Lego and ask for the WALL-E fix, part number: 6162839, rework bag, 21303.
Hi, been snooping with interest on this thread for some time but not posted. I don't have any build threads but hoping to get the mini,f40,vw camper soon.
However I'm after some input, it seems that buying lego is a good investment, I had an idea to buy some lego for my children as a gift to give them when they are 18. Currently 3 and 1!
So buy some sets, wrap them up good and proper and store them to give them at a later date to sell.
So what are the sets that are out at the moment that look like good purchases for the future? Is there a method to telling which are best?
For example I have looked at Slave I & the tie fighter at the minute.
Thankyou- any advice appreciated.

Thats what I do. I think my best return is the BTTF delorian but the problem is to see anything you actually have to sell them.
I've just picked up the simpsons house, X-Wing and will get a ghostbusters fire house to go with the ecto 1 that I've already got. I'd quite happily make build any of them up but hopefully they should be a good investment.
There's probably a lot more people buying to sell sets on in the future than there used to be but whatever happens I doubt they will ever lose money.
One set that I'm surprised hasn't been pulled yet is the VW camper van, it's been out for quite a while now so it must be imminent for retirement. http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Volkswagen-T1-Camper-Va...

My limited Lego knowledge suggests that UCS sets would be the best for investment followed by Lego Ideas sets. Or pick a theme with a crazy fanbase (Star Wars!). I've also read that sets with rare parts even if a small set would rise considerably after discontinuing, not that I know of any or if that happens any more.
I'd pick something you like as has already been said, I liked the Tumbler so bought myself one for Christmas. I also have a Simpsons House which is currently unbuilt.

They updated the box design in 2015 so I don't know if that is an indication it'll be around for another couple of years or even longer? It doesn't seem to have dated much, and Lego must be aware of how much the earlier Beetle goes for these days; no point in them not profiting from that demand!Got Wall-e and the T1 Camper for Christmas, very pleased.
Built Wall-e in an afternoon and tried it out in my new lightbox thing...

Fun build, quite a few clever ideas in there. Neck is still not that strong, despite it being the new version.
Slowly working on the T1 but a 15 month old son limits my time on that somewhat, not the most enjoyable build so far (for me, nothing big or small beats the Ecto 1, loved putting that together) but lots of nice detail.

New to the thread. After many years of deliberating getting back into Lego my wife bought me a pristine though pre-loved 6970 Beta I Command Base for Christmas. I enjoyed this kit 30+ years ago as a nipper so with the bit between my teeth i have order the Ghostbusters Fire Station for delivery this week.
Judging my this thread i am about to go down a very long and expensive rabbit hole...

The Sopwith Camel sucked me back into Lego 3-4 years back. after a 30-odd year hiatus. I daren't tot up how much I've spent since, and I'm a mere amateur compared to some of the folk who post on here! I live in awe (and envy!) of how much disposable income some of them seemingly have to chuck at this hobby.....
Trying to get my hands on a tumbler but the 2 closest Lego stores (Glasgow and Newcastle) are sold out.
My mate was in the Edinburgh Smyths just after Christmas when a woman in front of him tried to buy all the remaining Tumblers - she got 3, but he managed to get the fourth and final one they had in stock.
I am waiting to see if they get any back in next week.
It was on my wishlist, but after going for Ecto-1, F40 and Red-5 X-Wing I couldn't justify one before Christmas.
Mrs Chimp has given me the green light to go for one IF I can source one. Not going to pay stupid inflated prices, but I would like one for the collection.

Is your instruction manual also back to front and upside down in certain spots?
Not so far, had one moment of confusion where a sub-part was numbered 12 and then it jumped to 15, but it was step 15 of the main build, not the sub-part, so that had me scratching my head for a few minutes until I realised I just had to combine the sub-part with the build I'd already made.Gassing Station | Scale Models | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
