Darn it, I was about to buy the UCS X-Wing for myself. Was going to get it before christmas but thought I'd spread it out with the F40 having just arrived. Bugger.

UCS Tie fighter or Slave One worth a go?

Tumblers disappeared really quickly, glad I got mine last year. Why oh why did I not buy two though, surely thats going to be silly money forever more?

Dithered over the tumbler before xmas when it was reduced at smyths myself, now sold out. Did the same over the reduced City cargo train at TRU, they've now sold out online too.

New years resolution. Buy now, decide if you actually want/need it later. yes

I'd go Slave I over the X-Wing or TIE Fighter, it's a more involved build, longer build time than both the others. That's why I went for it. I enjoyed the build, took about 8 hours, I reckon the X-Wing and TIE could probably be cracked in 5. For the same price it's the better value set IMHO.

I just purchased Slave 1 as hopefully a long term investment, from what I gather with the UCS they retire and then are often in demand. Managed to get it off Smyths website. Also have a T1 Camper on order from Lego but I don't know If I have missed the boat on that one.

Loads of T1 campers in the LEGO stores if you can't get it via the website

Cheers, Slave 1 looks like nice build.

Just noticed the Exo Suit has gone out of stock also, glad I got one as I loved that little set. Whoever said earlier don't think about buying a set you like, just buy it, was very right. I've got some amazing sets this year (Exo Suit, Wall-E, F40, Tumbler) and last year (Ecto 1, DeLorean).

What do we think about the Simpsons house as an investment to fund other Lego in the long term?

I really would very much like the Firehouse and the Helicarrier, but over £200 feels like a mental barrier I need to break through.

I've got the Helicarrier - great build and an impressive centre display in amongst my other models.

I built the Helicarrier over Christmas. Really enjoyed it although it got a bit boring building the turbines.

Ordered the Ghostbusters House for my birthday so might do that next!

Obviously a set for an AFOL, quite an old one at that. 40yr old+ appeal?

Not quite sure it'll have that 'appeal' if the value won't be held, which I can't see. How often do you see campy old Batman on TV at Christmas, vs stuff like Ghostbusters etc?

Hmmm

They do have some odd sets their must be a market for them, I saw the jedi defender ship from the swtor game (a starwars mmo set 3000 years before the films) had been re-released last year, I could understand them re-releasing the smaller swtor set, but this is a £70 set with very very limited appeal, and very generic minifigures.

Poised to pull the trigger on the Ghostbusters Firehouse direct from Lego, unless anyone knows of a cheaper source?

No plans for a group buy Russy? wink
