Mike, without causing more problems, can I ask you a quick question about your new sets.
How well do the new blocks fit with other brands of toy bricks ? Just wondering how interchangeable they are.
Also, any chance you could repost the photos without naming the company, cant see the harm in that, its just photos of toy bricks, especially wanted to see the photos of the Campervan as would be interesting for my young daughter.
Shame that such a friendly thread is getting upset, we are all kids at heart here who like to play with our toys, whether they be Lambos, Watches or Plastic Bricks.
Keep posting and keeping us all informed.
They interchange perfectly, I used some LEGO in my LEPIN modular as there was two bits missing.

Should I now be going to confession for abuse to LEGO bricks?

[quote=_MIKE_]I would like to thank the guys that have managed to see the reason why is was posting, and could also see that it was more of an educational exercise than anything else.

I did not say buy this, or even say exactly what the name of the shop was or give a link to aliexpress. If I did those things then I think that would be wrong.

I didn't even know about LEPIN until it was mentioned in this thread a week or so ago. This then prompted me to have a look at our version of gumtree which presented a real bricks and mortar toy shop.

Instead of guys in the UK having it sent to them I thought I'll go and take a look and present my findings. Never did I think it would descend into nonsense by one wannabe forum Police poster.

Anyway I have two more kits to build, but will hold off for a few days as my fingertips hurt after building the camper and modular in two days. I will present the pictures here for those who are interested to see, as you Jader had my thread that I specifically created on your request for these brick models deleted.

Stig, a real live PH mod bloke has said he sees no issue and that's good enough for me.

Mike,

Please believe me when I say that I was in no way targeting you. I asked the mods to review the thread you started because of the title, and the last few pages of this thread where the discussion started. Whichever mod reviewed it obviously felt there was a potential issue, hence the deletion.

My concern is that linking both brands in the same thread could lead to issues for the forum owners. The thread you started was titled "The non-Lego brand "Lego" thread...". That is quite easy to find in a google search and therefore not that hard for Lego to find and action if they choose to do so.

Interestingly enough your post counteracts some of the other arguments further up i.e. "we are only discussing it, not advertising it" - you yourself state you didn't know anything about it and only found out about it through this thread and then went and bought some. It appears you weren't the only one either.

I was aware of it as a brand - our local $2 shop stock it, but only the stuff they seem to have designed themselves not the copy Lego. I've looked at it and thought "looks like cheap rubbish" and dragged the boy away from it.

I will start a thread for the other stuff. I'll also report it to the mods with a request that if they view it as unsuitable they should lock it with the last post being an explanation as to why. At least then we all know where we stand.

Maybe then we can get back to normality, although I'm not sure grown men discussing the merits of Lego (or non-Lego) would be viewed as normal in some circles smile

If you're going to continue acting as

at least sort your quoting out. It's really not hard.

Why do you care that the forum owner might get a stroppy email from Lego over this lepin stuff?

No one here is either benefiting from or being harmed by lepins ripping of lego. This site/thread is not an advertising channel for the lego group. Other specific lego websites run articles examining the knock-offs because it's interesting to read about eg http://brickset.com/article/15793/review-cheap-chi...

Do you live in a perpetual hell of a never ending carpet covered in an infinite number of Lepin elements that you are forever destined to tread on with every step?

As you are from that corner of the world did you only ever get knock off lego as a child thus empowering your bitterness?

Did lepin bum your dog?

No. They hammered frozen sausages into my lawn and now the bloody possums have ruined it smile

(I haven't quoted you because as Jobbo pointed out my quotations are buggered for some reason and I don't want to upset him any more than I already have.)

And I've explained my reasons further up / back.

Not a bad little kit for the money.

Now to build the Camper Van.

That's a cracking little set, the important question does the boat float ?

Let face it, 10 year old me would have built it and run straight to the bath, mini me would do the exact same thing if I bought this set.

fk me. Been away from this thread for a few days and WHAT A MESS!

All this Lepin legal st. Bloody hell, whatever happened to a few car minded blokes talking about LEGO!

Anyway, I am sick of LEGO. Just spent 2hrs shifting 3,500 sets up a load of stairs.

Indeed. I came in here just to see if anyone had the Disney castle yet and didn't expect to see this. hehe

Back to proper Lego...

Finally got round to building the Camper Van. A great build. Until you get to constructing the roof section on pages 48 & 49 of book 2.

How the freddy fk are you meant to stop the roof collapsing?

No matter what I do when I get to section 9 & 10 the whole thing buckles in on itself when the front window panels should be clipped onto the roof section.

FFS. 90 minutes so far & every time it does exactly the same. Grrrrr.

Done it at last - ignored the instructions & fitted the roof to the body & then clipped the opening windows to the roof!!

Camper Van finished. I have named mine Barrie in honour of a mate who detests the VW Campers passionately.

A great build with lovely touches for the interior details - and pistols for the door handles!!

I know it's an older kit however only just got round to building it up.

If only the roof building/rigidity was better...

Anyway. Ignoring the Camper - 8386 in the background requires a complete engine cover & rear wing assembly due to the original being eaten by my 10 month GSD!

Don't suppose anyone has a spare that they don't need???

Thanks for that. It really does look amazing! I had one delivered today, but keeping it as a Christmas gift for my wife. I'm super excited about it - and I won't even get to build it! biggrin
