Phoned the Lego store in Brighton and they said that they will have Assembly Square to sell on January 1st.
They will have it in stock now most likely, they just won't sell you one, tongue out.

They will probably be happy to get some shifted on, all that new 2017 stock, old 2016 stock and these are GB HQ size boxes apparently. Imagine having to find space for 20+ of those in the back for 2 weeks.

I can't recommend Lego Dimensions enough, knew nothing about it but it's just brilliant, love how they combine characters and worlds. Batman, Gandalf, Gizmo and Marty McFly running through Springfield or down the Yellow Brick Road is just pure joy.

Did bag one of the Caterham as well, enjoying it so far, nice build.

I have a load of vintage space lego, old technic, and a Town set from 1978. All complete, with destructions but no boxes (apart from the 2 technic sets, car chassis and tractor). Been looking on bricklink to sell them but just ended up confused. Is ebay the only sensible choice?

Are you able to explain this a bit more to me. I've been tempted by dimensions for some time and have £30 at Amazon and £30 at Sainsbury's that are burning a whole.

What do I get from the core starter pack and what difference is there from story packs, characters and level packs as it all seems to add up quite quickly.

Dimensions - The base game is machine specific so make sure you buy for the one you've got. After that it's one size fits all. The basic starter set includes Gandalf, Batman and Wild-Style plus a batmobile and the base.
That's all we've got at the moment, it's essentially a lego game/mash up as we have been to Oz (following the yellow brick road) and Springfield and don't have Oz or Simpsons playable characters. I did pick up a Emmet fun pack and I think you can just drop them in as a character. Then I think level packs add new story levels and characters packs allow access to that characters worlds directly.

Ah that sounds better than I thought so I don't need to be a specific character to complete certain things but if I want a favourite character say Bart Simpson I can buy him and play as him?

Also I've just seen some Asda stores have the Xbox starter for £20. I'll go in search of a PS4 deal tomorrow perhaps

Re: Dimensions

Each character has a specific type of ability - some can jump extra high (female ones typically), some can break specific types of rock or metal, some can dig, some do magic, some shoot etc etc. So you need a variety of characters to do everything in the whole game but you can complete the essential storyline and some extras with the basic kit. You can then either buy the smaller character packs to get a specific dude or ability you need or you can buy the level or story packs which add whole new areas to explore and new puzzles etc.

If you are buying a PS4 one, make sure you get a newer style one with supergirl included.

May also be worth trying out a GAME store if you are after the Green arrow as well, it won't be cheap buying from them but could cost £50-60 alone for Supergirl/Green Arrow if you are after them, not sure if GAME still comes with 2 of the older fun packs at the moment as well.

Also at Argos, "Buy one get one free across all Lego Dimensions Fun, Level, and Team packs" Great value for Sonic and Gremlins each reduced to £25 BOGOF, making them £12.50 each, some fun packs at £11.99 BOGOF are good value at £6 each as well.

Our little 6yr old got a load of Dimensions for Christmas, and I have to say, they are truly brilliant fun. He's been playing it for a couple of months, and the controls are as easy as walking for him now.

Imagine Wonder Woman driving a Dalek, or Golem flying the Delorean. It's huge fun, and highly collectable, and addictive. And the different worlds make the game truly vast.

Here's his collection so far.....

Quick question I'm hoping someone can answer, just building the Rogue One Krennic's shuttle model at the moment, but I've seen this method on other kits. You'll be building up something on the inside and they'll give you a piece to use (in this case a pastel blue) that won't seen anywhere else on the model, making a lovely pattern on the inside with various other colours, but you then stick a blanking plate over it and it's never seen again. Why do they do this?

My thoughts are A) it's a big inside joke there to use obscure bricks that aren't visible on the finished kit. B) it makes that one piece easier to find amongst the others. C) they've got a lot of old weird colour bricks that won't be used elsewhere, so are just looking for anywhere to use them up.

Be interested if there's an official line on it though.
I am pretty sure the answer is B. They have also started doing it on recent Technic sets where you can see the whacky colour on the finished model, mainly yellow and red axles. That's called "colour vomit" frown
I wondered about this too having noticed it in a few sets. I thought it was maybe to make the instructions a bit clearer where you have lot of bricks of a similar colour, the odd coloured one acts as a reference point visually.

So Amazon had the supergirl starter kit for £49.99 (cheapest I could find) I had a £30 voucher for filling in a survey last week so for £19.99 I've got the dimensions arriving tomorrow!

I also have a £30 voucher to spend at Sainsbury's so I'm thinking get 2 of the level packs any recommendations? I think I'll get simpsons but not sure on the rest.

Dimensions is a huge hit in our household. If you're buying it with kids in mind though, make sure you're prepared for massive downloads of updates and content (maybe get the downloads done in the evening when they are asleep).

The new Series 2 sets with the orange base all need content downloaded as well as the usual software updates. This is how it is on the PS3 anyway.

Love dimensions, got it last Xmas and built up quite a collection. The best story packs are portal and ghostbusters IMO, and we have every level pack apart from doctor who (son isn't interested)

Also got 2016 ghostbusters, fantastic beasts and mission impossible but not played them yet so can't compare those.

Expensive to collect but great fun.

Popped into Sainsbury's and got:

Simpsons level pack
Sonic level pack
A-Team fun pack
Benny (spaceman) fun pack

All for £5 to me by using my gift card I had lying around. I think that's a result.

Assembly Square is a huge set. Just finished for the night after 3 hours and have only completed sections 1&2. So is going to be a long enjoyable build. Great.
