I don't want to sound like a prick to anyone that has spent money on them but I personally think the Simpsons figures aren't as good as the Star Wars mini figs. The Apu one in particular doesn't look right to me and several of the others look odd
I rather agree, they haven't really captured the faces at all.

Anyhoo, The Simpsons TV show goes all bricky this weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYGSpOfIr9Y

Is it? It's deliberately supposed to look like cheap 90s CGI? What brings you to that conclusion?

Bingo! It's a trailer for an episode of The Simpsons! The style is 100 percent NOT meant to look slick. It never has (except when Groening et al are being very ironic).

Everywhere you look in the trailer there are little visual jokes about what brick life would be like as seen through the eyes of an old-fashioned cartoon character (2D).

(Surprised that I have to spell this out).

Building up a Palace Cinema at the moment, very nice.

Remember the offers for May 4th are already on at the LEGO store, 15% off some models including SSD and Death Star. Free Poster and over £50 on Starwars nets you a Darth Revan polybag.

Typical! I held off ordering it last week. When's the next likely promotion?
If you are still after one of these then the 1st birthday event at Leeds could be good value, spending over £100 would net you a pack to fill with 3 minifigs, 100 extra vip points (£5) and a LEGO Store. The offer for flashback Shredder should have started then as well, so you should get one of those too.

It seems like we are back to the start of the thread again, free polybags with the daily mail.

Also some lego stores have new lego sets out early including new starwars, arctic and mixels.

Reading different LEGO websites it looks like there is going to be a Rover Mini Cooper set 10242 released this year.
It is going to be in BRG with white stripes with a tan interior. This set is on the same lines as the VW T1 Camper that is already out.
I can't wait. Was going to buy the Parisian Restaurant but now putting this on hold until the Mini comes out.

are the train items particularly collectable: they certainly seem to be ?
Working trains with boxes and instructions are very collectable.

You cant always believe the eBay prices, as they are sometimes very prospective - however it does help to search for 'completed auctions' to get a better picture.
sorry just coming back to this........... thanks for the replies.

I guess back in the day: I was born in 72, maybe a less throwaway culture, toys were to be valued, you saved hard or waited for them, so kept boxes, instructions etc. same with my mechano and fisher technique (who even remembers that stuff ?)

i'll have to work out how to post photos: might be of interest to you guys ! I did build the train (7740 yellow/red passenger train) at christmas for the first time in decades and had it running around the bottom of the christmas tree !

Roger, wilco.

Other things I'm waiting for...free daily mail Lego, couldn't get the first couple so have mailed off for them.

Managed to get a couple in the week though, little city police car was one of them.

Spent over £100 in the Leeds store yesterday and got the extra points and the empty figure box to go and collect after the 26th of may,and a star wars figure + the Lego store so all in all not a bad deal..! Is the Lego store only available as a gift..? If so it should be quite rare..?

yeah you see the lego store on ebay from time to time. I think you can only get it at store openings or anniversaries.

Russ, I realise there's no official announcement yet but, assuming the rumours are correct (and they seem too widespread and detailed not to be), any chance you'll be running a PH group buy on the 10242 Mini Cooper set? The rumours appear to suggest a June release date (though I'm not expecting you to comment either way if it's still officially embargoed).

It seems fair to assume that there will be considerable interest here, given why we're all here to begin with!

Nah, LEGO will keep that to themselves and do a couple deals with the big players (Smyths etc).
Independent accounts aren't allowed to sell these "flagship" kits - we just have to do all the work with the cheap stuff, promote their products etc and then have to turn away thousands of customers when they want these big sets!!

Cheers for the reply, Russ.

I suspected that may be the case. I asked you about the UCS R2D2 set a couple of years back and you said much the same in terms of what you can and can't stock.
