Kits to build with my son.
Discussion
Hi,
I would like some sort of kit I can build with my 5 year old? The more practical the better - i.e. not an airfix kit.
I've been looking at stirling engine kits, the haynes engine etc. Ideally, a nuts and bolts type build rather than scalpel, glue and paint. I've built a few of the balsa wood models with him and I think they have run their course.
Budget is probably sub £30 but will go above for something a bit special.
A mini stationary steam engine would be superb but I've not seen one in budget.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Thanks,
My dad got me an Atco Lawnmower to strip and rebuild, although I was about 10...
I bought an old Wilesco D20 off EBay, in need of restoration. My 5 year old and I stripped it, painted it, got the necessary spares and rebuilt it. Awesome day when it finally ran!

BTW the Haynes engines are rubbish.
