Home tracks are huge fun, although kneeling down seems a lot more difficult than 35 years ago...
I took some of my cars to a club track last year, that was fantastic!

That track looks amazing! I was looking at some models earlier and came across a competition ford that i fell in love with immediately, it said in the description that its microns off the tracks so was only really useable on a perfect smooth track. I now understand what they mean now looking at that, taking the jag off to the local club on the 8th.feel like a 10 year old again!

Wow, impressive! How long has it taken you to collect all those? Is the intergralle in the last pic a 4x4 magnetic one?
Years and years. My collection is probably only about a dozen cars - my dad has hundreds. The Delta is indeed the sought-after Teamslot model, but I believe they are 2wd only. 4wd is over-rated, the added weight can be beneficial but not really the extra drive. Some are very good though.
Mandatory removal of the magnets makes life more interesting and introduces actual 'skill' into it rather than just relying on the magnetic force holding the car on the track...
Firstly OP I have put some pics of mine on here before but will try to take a few tonight and put them up as there have been some new additions.
I personally like the addition of the magnets. It's like the addition of ABS and TC to racing cars. Don't moan about what has gone but exploit the new resources available to you to the maximum. I have certainly found that whilst the cars are obviously more forgiving with the magnates only some of the non Scalextric cars have magnets that are too strong. It's still very easy to crash, and the cars are faster and therefore engage non petrolhead mates, all the more for it.

Now here's a topic for debate!I personally like the addition of the magnets. It's like the addition of ABS and TC to racing cars. I think for a newbie such as myself who maybe foolishly spent a lot of money on a semi pro car, the magnets are probably a good idea, once I get to grips with it I may give it a go and see what the difference is, but for now it's too pretty to smash up just yet. Got a couple of beaters with the set I'm receiving in 2 days! So I'll smash them up first I think. Been in touch with my local club, heading down there to have a go on their large circuit on the 8th! Might have to surrender my credit card over to my mother or something for a bit, keep finding stunning cars for far to much money!

Hmmm, no I personally like the addition of the magnets. It's like the addition of ABS and TC to racing cars. The quality of Scalextric branded cars has come on quite far but they're much more entertaining to drive sans-magnets. My dad maximises the grip offered by the tyres by running them in on sandpaper first - out of the box they are often too hard and offer little or no lateral grip.
Cars like the Caterham 7 are phenominally fast with their magnets, but incredibly challenging to drive without them - a bit like the real car. Rear slides about all over the shop.
'Fly' are one of the brands which I feel put way too stronger magnets into their cars. Their old Marcos and Lister Storm are two that I remember fondly, you could just go 100% throttle for the whole lap...!
Anyway, I thought I'd keep you posted on my dads' most recent purchases which arrived on Saturday -
(not my pictures I might add)
Both made by 'Pioneer'. They made the cars from the film Bullitt aswell (yes they form part of the collection too!)
And this set from Scalextric -
Stig Blomqvist set! The RS200 is my favourite. Dad already has a Rothmans 6R4 and a Group B Quattro which looks a lot beafier!
Nice! Really like the set, seen it on ebay fairly cheap, I want a 4x4 6r4 though which costs about the same so I may have to skip that one, having great fun with the Astra, no magnet makes for interesting racing at lower speeds, think the motors on the way out though as it sounds rough as rats, it clicks when you turn the wheels by hand, bad sign?
Go Digital. Once you have done that making things the same radius, etc is irrelevant. You can also add that dimension of being in the right lane for the right corner, etc.
A couple of Stig box sets arrived at mine on Friday. One for me to use as 'anyone can drive' cars so I can keep the set the g/f got me for 'best' and another for the youngest nephew for Christmas - at £60 for 3 high detail cars it was a no brainer!

Thanks, the collection is much bigger now but is all in my loft, I only get it out for a few months a year .
the Golf is made by Spirit. As a car it looks great, but it's shocking to drive. I've spent hours tuning it to get it to run right.

Not happy bunny ....
Just opened my parcel from Hornby and instead of the Stig triple set they've sent the Classic Rallycross set:
http://www.scalextric.com/cars/limited-edition/cla...
Only charged me £59.99 but not the point, I already have that set.
On the phone to them tomorrow to get it sorted out.
