A few of my 1/18th car collection have cloudy windows from being in sun light, i have tried polishing them, but it looks like its all the way through the plastic.

Has any one come across a method that works, a solution or is it simply put up with it.

Have they yellowed? That is the classic sign of sun damaged for clear plastic and can sometimes be revered by soaking the part in a 50:50 mix of bleach and water and left on a windowsill. Obviously, you need to dismantle the model to do this.

I've successfully polished out scratching before, but that is obviously a surface issue, not a critical change to the actual material itself.

No not yellowed at all, just gone cloudy white.

Scratches would be easy compared, polishing them out is no trouble even using wet and dry for some deeper ones, but i'll try your method, got nothing o loose.

Sounds like UV getting at the plastic. If they are in a cabinet, is there a film you can apply to the glass? Just thinking. But if the plastic has been got at then its through it and more importantly, probably very brittle.
