Hi all.

I'm looking for an off road truck for my son(13)for Christmas.
Spent a few hours searching the net for advice(done a search on here as well)and have come up with what I hope is a good choice, please bear in mind that i'm a total newbie to RC cars.

Just thought i'd ask the experts on here first before I buy as to what your opinions are on this truck

will it be easily upgradeable,(when he gets more use to the power and speed)i.e can you just slap Lipo batteries in or do you have to upgrade other parts first.

Any helpful advice or suggestions much appreciated.

Based solely on my own experiences, HPI are great until they break and then it is a nightmare getting parts.

If you think he might want to upgrade in future then you might be better off getting a kit. That way you get the fun of building it (can be a great Father/Son bonding opportunity) and you know how it all works so taking it apart to replace or upgrade bits is easier. Tamiya are the best in this department but that is only my opinion smile

HPI are very good, parts are easy to get.

It would be a good way into the hobby, but remember to buy 4 or 5 spare batteries.
