I had the Enterprise; a friend had a Vertibird German Polizei chopper.

No - never head of it TBH. I have got a Matchbox "Counter Attack" set, which got almost as much use as the Vetibird!

Pneumatic machine guns, mortars, disintegrating houses...brilliant.
God that brings back memories !! I had one of these one Christmas and loved it ! Played with it more than anything. Not thought of it for.... A very long time !!

Must be pretty rare because I cant find any on ebay ....

Going back to the Vertibird .... I had a few when I was a kid. I had a white one as well as one like yours.

I also had a Star Trek one where you flew the Enterprise around and my favourite which was a Chinook.

If anyone knows who made the Enterprise and Chinook ones... I would like to keep an eye open for them on ebay...
My cousin had the Police version, I think it picked up a car or something. the helicopter in mine vibrates a bit these days, but I think it also did that towards the end of it's first life. Ah well at least it's getting some use again. Looking at how crude the engineering is on it, I'm amazed it ever worked at all, never mind even after 35 years.

I loved that Counter Attack set too. I could never get the machine gun to work properly though - the compressor piston always seemed to stick.

While I'm at it (repairing my old toys for the kids - and me!) I might experiment with powering the mortar and machine gun with some sort of control valve and CO2 cartridge. There must be someone at work who can figure out a circuit that gives pulses of air at the correct frequency for the machine gun bullets. That would be awesome.

I've got the Police version which has the robbers car with an eye to catch it with the chopper to drop it off at the cop shop......well that's what I used to say to myself! It's sat in the loft in the original box (which is too short for it all to fit in when put together?!?), it worked just as it did on the day I got it when I last got it out a couple of years ago, now got a destructive 4 year old grandson so it won't coming out of its box until he learns how not to pull apart everything he touches smile
