Looks great so far. Presumably the sides are painted aluminium?
Yes a lot or the panels are aluminium, in fact pretty much the same one that are aluminium on the real thing are the same thing on this kit.

So the sides, wings, bonnet are all pre painted in the JPE colours, which means it's one less colour I have to worry about making a mess of with my poor painting skills!
So it looks like the wheels are coloured plastic - how is the colour match? Do the wheels look 'waxy' compared with the sides?

I got some turned aluminium dampers from Thunder Valley for my 1:12 FW14B this week, this thread makes me want to start building it (or at least finish the MP4/6 I've got on the go!).

Yes the wheels are plastic, but are a white base colour and have been spraye with the same paint as the rest of the panels.

They look pretty good, the paint as a semi gloss to it, but the texture and finish of the base plastic makes them look very realistic.

Hard to show in a photo but here goes:-

The scale Yokohama tyres are spot on realistic too!

Are all the silver bits self-coloured too?

Looks like typical Tamiya quality so far. Very impressive.

Some are,,some not so much, I have been painting the parts I think will be mostly visible,,but some like the prop, will be virtually hidden so I me leaving in the factory black.

The only thing I don't like the look of so far is the fuel tank and other plastic panels that make up that item at the back,

It has a lot of moulding indentations, so it would probably need a lot of filling and filing to get rid of those marks.

Not decided if I want to go to such lengths on that part so far!

Thanks for the comment, glad you are enjoying the pictures!

However why as a doctor would you be concerned about how many people in your surgery are interested in model making! winksmile

We were only having a bit of fun!

God knows how many syntax, grammar and spelling mistakes I make on here!

I blame them on my iPad and my poor use of the keyboard, mostly though it's probably because I have had one two many glasses of fine wine before posting!

Hic!
