Tamiya CC-01 vs CW-01 - advice please!
Discussion
Have been looking at r/c cars for a bit of fun - mainly for use in my (fairly large) garden and/or on the local park
Really like the look of the Tamiya Unimog (self build) but note it comes in several options, including:
CW-01 wheelie ( I believe this is same as lunchbox/pumpkin ?)
CC-01 4wd
Both are similarly priced so which to go for? Which will be faster/more fun?
Any advice/guidance much appreciated as I am a 'noob' as far as this is concerned...

Wheelies are fun at first but get boring when it won't stay down!
Off road is fun but quite slow.
Think about what you want to do then choose - fun and fast in the park or crawling over the rockery and anything else in front of it?
Is the cc-01 quite slow then? I thought the cr-01 ( rock crawler model) was the slow one?Off road is fun but quite slow.

As said, the wheelie models are more fun and built rather tough, but you could get bored with the lack of cornering ability at speed. If it's for occasional use though, this is what I would recommend, they're hilarious.
If you're going to use it frequently and want a bit more scale realism then the CC01 is the pick. It has a solid rear axle with multi-link suspension and independent front suspension. There's the option to lock the rear diff to stop it getting stuck in wet / muddy patches. There are a lot of tuning parts available for both.
I don't have a wheelie model in my current stable, but I do have 3 CC01s. There's something about the engineering of them which intrigues me, but they certainly aren't fast like the equally-priced off road buggies.
The wheelie model will be the better pick if it's your only rc car. It's more fun and will keep you interested I reckon.

Gearing. The big tyres give a larger final drive.
TBH, if speed is your thing, I wouldn't pick either. While I'd choose the CC over the CW, since I like the scale realism and interesting chassis, if I just wanted something to go around the back garden as quickly as possible I'd get a buggy.

Hang On, just checked site the Unimog comes in 3 flavours, a CW-01, CR-01, or CC-01.
The CR-01 ("crawler"?)looks like a decent solid axle 4wd crawler rig. Slow, but capable of climbing the rockery with ease.
The CC-01 chassis is the lowest of the three, 4wd, realistic (compared to the other two) chassis.
The CW ("Wheelie") is just the Unimog body on a Wheelie King chassis. So it's RWD, has bouncy air shocks, and probably not quite so capable.
Click on the specs tab for each of these to compare (I've used the unbuilt kit version each time)
CR01

The crawler chassis is the best of the 3, but you get what you pay for. The Wheelie King is a much more basic kit, it might be fine as a starter kit or for lawn bashing, but there's lot a lot of room for upgrades. The CC chassis is more realistic, and you could probably upgrade it quite a bit to make a decent crawler from it down the line.
