I have quite a bit of this to sell, so where's the best place to sell it? I've bought loads of things off E-Bay, but never sold anything and have heard a few nightmare scenario's. What are your thoughts? Do the same problems exist on Gumtree? People trying to take the piss etc or screw you over?

Sold tons of stuff on eBay. Make sure you cover your postage costs, accept Paypal or cash on collection. What's the likely problem? Just accept that there are costs for eBay and Paypal.

Cheers RichB, I'd just heard that some people will immediately say it's not as described and open a grievance or something, or that for collection only they'll decide they want to haggle etc when they get to your house to collect. I guess as with all things, we only get to hear about the problems. But weighed against all the deals that go through without an issue, I'm probably worrying about nothing.

I wouldn't worry too much. We sell a lot through eBay and generally its very good - like you said you have to look at the bigger picture.

My only bit of advice would be to make everything crystal clear, write down the exact contents list and take as many clear photos as you can highlighting any issues.

You are correct in that people can open a case for items not as described and it is easy. However if you dont give any reason for people to complain then its unlikely this will happen, unless you do happen to attract a complete fraudster (These exist you no matter where you sell it!)

You hear lots of people complaining that they had cases open against them for item not as described, but this is often because the item wasnt as described!! You get lots of people trying to pass used stuff off as new etc.

Cheers.

Cheers for the tips Russy, I'll certainly get as many pics as I can up, it is well and truly used, so I'll need to be careful, most of the cars have wings and mirrors missing etc. I guess I'll just have to get as much info and as many pictures up as any limit will allow. smile

Want to sell to expand my lego collection, I'm getting far more enjoyment from that than I ever did from the Scalextric.

Thanks again all, you've eased my mind. beer

No probs. "Well and truly used".....thats the sort of thing you have to be careful with. You'll get a numpty seller who will take one picture from a distance and say, "Very good condition" - that is when you get the problems as people will make a fuss on receipt.

So whilst you dont want to under sell your stuff, you just need to be clear and honest. Also the more detail you put into the listing, the less chance you'll have people asking you questions about every detail....

Not sure about the safest place to sell scalextric,

but the easiest place to buy it seems to be Jadlam with their 20 % off Easter teaser .

Just wasted an hour browsing the site for all sorts of stuff I don't "need ".
