Hi everyone,

My hubby's birthday at the end of the month and I know he'd LOVE a decent RC car for him (and our 4yr old  )

I've got about £200, but after an almost amazon purchase plunder, I've now learnt that most of the cars also need the remote control, battery packs, etc, etc all bought separately - and you have to devote the first month to painstakingly building and painting the things (eek)

I'm very unsure about the practicality of this with little children terrorizing everyone...

Can anyone please give me some advice? He's mentioned names to me in the past but aside from Vanessa's lunchbox and a 'proper buggy' I've got no idea where to even start.

I know this has been asked before, I did try searching threads but, honestly, most went right over my head... Please keep it simple for the totally RC car naive! confused

Any advice would be amazing xxxxx

Hi and welcome.

Google for Tamiya UK. They do ready built vehicles which come with all you need including controllers and batteries etc etc.

Building their kits is quite tricky and I suspect a 4 year old would lose patience before it was finished.

With the reday built Tamiyas as he gets older you can upgrade and tune them up.

Good luck.

I had a Sand Scorcher and a Toyota Celica - loved them both.

Thanks Soov. I'll do that, I didn't know they did ready built! Car is totally for my husband but I suspect him and the 4yr old will be heading to the park together to play - I mean drive it.

If they want a buggy then look at the off roader ones.

Thanks Shuvi, that does look like something he's shown me before! What is it please?

I thought big wheels meant off road :/ Lucky I didn't buy the lunchbox!

That's the ticket - a "proper buggy"

They'll go anywhere!!!

Start with Amazon and Firebox, or Google for "model shop" near you.

I've just emailed Tamiya's recommended supplier in the UK, hopefully they won't think i'm crazy.

I've tried to find a local place actually but drawn a blank.

Haha, thanks Soov, looks awesome, but i'm worried about buying from Amazon... thinking I ought to go to a specialist as they might be more willing to swap if i've totally not been listening and buy the wrong thing??

Amazon are usually fine if it's not been used.
