Hello all,

I'm pretty new to PH so hi smile Just wanted to post a few piccies of my current WIP. Nothing spectacular at the mo but keen to get views on replicating Ferrari red in this tiny scale. So far I've gone with Tamiya grey primer and Halfords FIAT Orange/Red which to my eye seems not too far off the 458 I spotted in bridge of Alan a few weeks ago. I dont have the pics of the painted body parts at the moment as they are gassing off in the drying room. Appreciate your thoughts!

Have you been stuck in your loft again Eric?

Probably - rummaging through my stash (which includes some REAL Ferraris - like the 312T3).

To be honest, I don't pay much attention to modern supercars.

I though all Ferraris were given a number of some sort.

Two piccies showing the contrast and colour variation under different lights. I think I've answered my own question here smile

As I'm coming up to a period being laid up, I'll be laying into this kit too. I asked here about it (andcrecieved baluable advice) and also read a fewcreviews. One review ( http://modelkitsreview.com/revell-laferrari-model-... ) mentions the body shell fitting badly and needing a small shave, pictured in the review, have you encountered this?
Also, are all if the paints mentioned on the box necessary? Some are barely used, and as I'm not exactly a regualar model maker I'm not sure if they are worth me getting.

The kit is fine, just needs a bit of skill to get it to come together. The Tamiya kit is fantastic but double the price. Take your time and plan each stage. Main colours are semi matt black, chrome or silver, "Italian red" ( biggrin), and perhaps matt black or dark gray to create some contrast. Depends on what you consider important. The carbon fibre decals do cover a fair portion but they are a bit crude. After market carbon decals are far better but tricky to work with. Hope that helps smile

Thank you very much, I can't say I'm looking forward to being laid up but this will be quite a nice thing to cushion it. I've seen a couple of other colours I'm thinking of for the body though, metallic blue or green is high on my list!
Looking forward to seeing how you progress.
