I've got a pair of these https://www.firstpersonview.co.uk/vonista-fpv-vide... which are just under £300. They have a WVGA display, diversity receivers and most importantly HDMI input which enables me to use them with my Phantom as well as my Vortex 150 (and PS4!). Also they've got a built in camera and picture in picture which allows you to see what's going on without taking the goggles off. The fatsharks with equivalent features we £500 at the time and the picture quality was no different. The only drawback is no DVR and you're stuck with the built in receivers so less choice of freqs than fatshark, but works fine with Vortex 150.

Another reason to get the Skyzones... I flew my drone full throttle into my own face last night and still have a face.

...Ouch though.

Could have been very bad!
Those didn't have the HDMI in that I wanted personally but in hindsight I should probably have gone for them!

I need to solder on a new SMA connector to mine as the crash ripped one out... and cracked the front plastic... and destroyed an immersionRC patch antenna... and a 45degree SMA connector... and a 90 degree SMA connector (basically everything on my face)

I had some Eachine VR007's which were OK but lacking in features and quite bulky.
I've just started using some skyzone goggles: https://www.banggood.com/Skyzone-SKY02S-V-3D-5_8G-...
I didn't want to spend Fatshark money (although these are close - I got them on a sale) and the reviews seemed good for these - a lot of people seem to like the Aomway Commanders also which seem similar.
Eachine are about to release a budget goggle type soon which look like they could be worth looking into - they have a fan like the Fatsharks, I have noticed fogging up a couple of times on my skyzones and don't put them up on my forehead as that tends to result in foggyness.

- All from a novices perspective!
okay so being a complete novice why do I need head tracking with my vortex 150? I could be really daft here
Just looking around at these and the lesser models. Does the head tracking interact with a computer at all. I have phoenix rc and wondered if there was any way of using the head tracking in that. Does the head track only transmit via the antenna or does it appear through the usb connection for a computer to process like computer VR goggles ??

Forgot to update the thread. I just have to say the vortex 150 is hilarious. It is by a factor of ten faster than any other model I have ever owned and with the working headaset it is by far the most exciting thing I have ever played with. The problem is that it lasts only about five moutes but by the end of it I am completely sweaty. Thoroughly recommended

It's been a while since I posted here, I've been a bit busy fetling chunks of balsa:

It's a modified version of a Chris Golds 84" EDF plan of the Canberra, to represent WT333.

The model will be on static display at the Cold War Jets open day at Bruntingthorpe this Sunday (27/05/19).

Cheers,
Olly

Thanks. It's been a bit of an effort, and it'll be a while before I tackle anything as involved as that again!

Looks very similar to the ST Discovery. Great flying planes. I flew 2 on and off for a few years. Upgraded one with a big eflite power motor and ESC which basically gave it endless vertical climb power. biggrin
