Some of the high detail models look fantastic. It's just a shame they're too flimsy to race without damaging them.

Even the so called impact resistant model's wings, wipers and mirrors don't survive one crash.

There's a business in making replacement parts - so many of the genuine Scalextric packs are NLA.

One that I'm making. Here's the real one delivered new in 1964

Here it is a few years later

Mine started as a 3D CAD model

Better make sure it's big enough

Running gear designed and fitted to the 3D printed version

Ready to try it out on the track, avoiding the snap oversteer

^That is really cool I love it. Were you tempted to electrify the rearspace and ramp to try and load the minis in on the move?

Here's my ninco layout in the garage, folds up against the wall to get the car in.
Went for a fly under instead of over to make it fit against the wall easier.

Next is barriers to prevent the cars hitting the floor! & paint the mdf, bit of green or all black.

I spent today racing a Slot.it group C Lancia in a team 6 hour endurance race. My first race representing my club and I'm glad to say that I (as the newbie) didn't hold the team back and we crossed the finish in first place, turning in 1944 laps.

Hopefully some people took some photos...

Excellent, my club is working toward Endurance races now that we have mastered stop & go penalties and fuel load effect over a few hundred laps.

Wow, this thread takes me back a few years! Some awesome collections on here, very envious.

I think my old "Track Busters" set (anyone remember this - it came with 2 Datsun pickups which had a flip-over mechanism and could run on the same track) is my in parents loft. Need to dig it out and set it up smile Just need to find a bit of space...

Cheers Russ,

One very happy 6 year old who reckons it's the best present ever! His 2 year old brother also likes it. Expansion pack definitely worth it.
