1:250 Scale Paper Model: Multi-Purpose Vessel "Mellum"
Discussion
They say what is important is not how you fall down, but how you pick yourself up. While we are in the cliché and sayings department, I also know that engineers (and I guess Doctors) do some of their best work when up against deadlines! The true test of a model is when you see it in some sort of scale context and you think "woah, I thought it was much bigger than that!". All the above apply here. Excellent work.
Despite being in Wakefield, I have yet to get around to visiting the Huddersfield event. Sigh.

I'd love to see that, but it would take so long that it would deprive us of seeing a dozen different builds instead. It was through these pages that I became a lurker on Britmodeller.com. Dr_gn, EricMc, Perdu and Fritag (not here!) and caterhamnut produce some unbelievable results......

Much appreciated guys. I'll post some proper pictures on Friday, if the weather is good.
Ive got the HMV Flower Class Corvette in the stash next, but I need to clear a 1:48 Eduard Lysander and a 1:72 Macchi 202 first. I really should get on with the McLaren MP4/6 too. I have built a couple of other models this year, but becasue they were for a magazine, I'm not supposed to post them online until 6 months or so after publication (whenever that might be).
I've seen that HMV Bismarck built at the Telford Show, it's absolutely incredible.

International Paper Modelling Society? ;-)
Fantastic work, would love to see it in real life, Telford 2017?
Thanks! Yes, I did ask if it was OK to enter paper models, but there wasn't an issue. Fantastic work, would love to see it in real life, Telford 2017?
I could take it to Telford if there was somewhere to leave it. I've never entered the conpetition there since I'm not an IPMS member (the Huddy show is an open comp), plus I've often thought the judging at Telford was pretty dodgy tbh.
Ahh yes fair enough, understand the issue. Agree on the judging front, how Spencer Pollards Harrier T2 didn't win last year I don't know. I've judged the Airfix competition there a couple of times and hate doing it so try to delegate these days!
Only joking with the paper comment, they really should change their name. I think it was 2 or 3 years ago when a stunning model of a rocket launch pad won the Telford comp, think it must have been about 95% etched brass...

Yeah I saw the rocket and tower - I think that was one of the more deserving winners. I think one year fairly recently, a model of a tin can won. Then there's the current obsession with the levitating racing cars (or whatever they are), which are undoubtedly beautifully and skilfully built, but which IMO have little relevance as true scale models since there is no prototype by which to judge them. There are loads of scratchbuilt models just as well built which are also painstakingly researched since they are of real subjects. It's all a bit weird.Only joking with the paper comment, they really should change their name.
